At FCDO Services, we protect the UK’s interests at home and overseas. We design and construct secure government buildings, undertake security systems installations, courier diplomatic packages worldwide, safeguard government tech, and a whole lot more. Our work is varied and crucial in keeping the UK government, its people and information safe. We never lose sight of our people and the importance of the skills that each of our people have. We align your interests, aspirations and development with the business needs to support our current mission.

Job description

Our Security Systems Engineers design, install and maintain technical systems around the world. We design, install, and maintain intruder detection systems, access control systems, public address systems and video surveillance systems among other security system installations.

As an inspirational, motivating and driven team leader, we are looking for somebody who embellishes a challenge. The challenges of working on technical security systems, coupled with deployments around the world, in different environments, climates and cultures. If you're ready to apply your skills and expertise to projects both here in the UK and overseas and be part of our global mission, we want you to be a part of it.

Lead small teams installing security systems in the UK and overseas

When you join us in this important and wide-ranging role, you’ll manage, coach and develop a number of small, high performing teams as they install physical and technical security systems at sites here in the UK and at overseas locations. Providing professional input on designs to ensure they meet the necessary standards and customer needs, you’ll assist with the preparation of equipment prior to its installation, supervise the team as it carries out the on-site installation, maintain technical drawings and produce post-work reports. Committed to safe working systems and ensuring your colleagues cooperate with risk assessments and Health & Safety policies, we’ll also expect you to maintain your own professional development and knowledge of the latest technologies and best practice as you help to support and grow our business.

Use all your knowledge and expertise as you support our global mission

With good technical security system installation skills, along with a Level 3 qualification or equivalent in a relevant discipline, you’ll have completed and maintained a form of Health and Safety qualification, including, IOSH, SSSTS, SMSTS or NEBOSH. It’s important that you have surveying and installation skills in at least one of the following skill sets – CCTV, IDS, IAPA, ACS or Radio and a fundamental understanding of premises cabling – as well as the ability to write and interpret technical documents. Experience of task managing teams and working in a similar role in the UK or overseas would be desirable, as would an understanding of construction design management requirements.

Discover the support you need to grow your career further

We’re always looking to improve – just like you. That’s why when you join us, expect to receive a competitive salary, generous holiday entitlement and a Civil Service Pension. Along with this, you’ll also have access to training and other development opportunities to help grow your career with us. Our offices have an on-site gym, nursery, café, and restaurant, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. It's a great set of benefits made to support all you do, and all you need.
