Full job description

About BearBox

We develop and install access systems for the Self Storage industry. Every time someone enters a code at a keypad, has their numberplate open a gate, views CCTV on their site or opens a unit with an app, they’re using our system. You will be joining a small, busy team that punches above its weight in terms of innovation and growth. We have a complex and exciting product that uses a cross-section of cutting edge technology.

From our bases in Hampton and Barcelona we support customers across the European continent, using our own engineering teams to install and maintain the equipment.

We have been in operation for over 15 years and pride ourselves on providing high-quality and reliable service to our clients. For more information, please visit bearbox.eu

The Role

This is a full-time hybrid role for an installation engineer based in the UK, but working across Europe too. Though technically based out of our Hampton office, most of your time will be spent on the road at installations.

You will be installing BearBox access control, CCTV and security hardware at self-storage sites and others across the UK and Europe. Initially this will be hardware installation only, however you will also learn how to set up and program the BearBox software and network devices. Training for BearBox equipment and software will be provided.

The job will involve:

  • Selecting optimal cable routes and hardware locations
  • Designing neat installations which satisfy the performance & functionality of our systems
  • Making connections with 3rd party equipment e.g. gates, doors, intruder alarms, to allow us to control them or provide an input
  • Liaising with production to get the correct hardware for the job
  • Liaising with customers to keep them up to date with progress
  • Documenting the installation with photos & descriptions of how the system is set up
  • Troubleshooting problems
  • Providing advice and technical backup to the support team, who operate remotely

This role requires a lot of teamwork and adaptability. Successful candidates will be able to work alongside others with different languages and customs. They must also be happy working closely with other colleagues for days at a time.

Travel

Whilst mainly based in the UK, this job will involve travel throughout Europe with a team for periods of up to two weeks.

Reasonable expenses will be covered by the company.

Essential

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Competent in the use of hand tools and powered tools
