Auto Electrician – Telematics & Camera Installation Engineer

Salary: From £28,000 per year (OTE £32,000–£36,000)

Job type: Full-time, Permanent

Location: Field-based – working from home, covering your local region

Hyde Park Corner (HPC) is one of the leading automotive electrical installation companies in the UK and Ireland, with over 30 years’ experience installing telematics, cameras and vehicle technology for some of Europe’s largest brands.

Our fully employed mobile engineering team carries out 10,000+ installations every month across passenger vehicles, LCV, HGV and trailers, using our own state-of-the-art booking and job management platform.

Due to continued growth, we’re looking to add Auto Electricians – Telematics & Camera Installation Engineers to our nationwide team.

The role

As a field-based Auto Electrician / Installation Engineer, you’ll:

Travel from your home to customer sites (home, workplace or fleet hubs) to install:

○ Vehicle telematics / tracking devices

○ Dash cameras, DVR systems and safety cameras

○ Other in-car electrical accessories (driver aids, multimedia, etc.)

● Use a PDA/job app to receive bookings, log jobs and commission devices

● Work on a wide range of vehicles – from cars and vans to HGVs and trailers

● Diagnose and resolve basic electrical/installation issues on site

● Deliver a professional, friendly service – you are the face of Hyde Park Corner to our customers every day

● Work independently once trained, with full technical and engineering support from our in-house team This is a field-based, hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys being on the road, solving problems and working with vehicle electrics. What we’re looking for You will be either:

● An experienced Auto Electrician / Telematics / In-Car Installation Engineer, or

● Someone with strong motor trade or mechanical experience who is confident working on vehicles and keen to retrain into telematics and camera installations. Essential:

● At least 1 year experience in the motor trade / vehicle maintenance / auto electrics (e.g. mechanic, auto electrician, PDI, accessory fitting)

● Confident using basic electrical tools, hand tools and test equipment

● Able to work independently once trained and follow installation guides accurately ● Full UK Category B manual driving licence

● Eligible to work in the UK

● Good communication and customer service skills – you’ll be dealing with drivers and fleet customers daily

● Comfortable working outdoors on customer sites in all seasons Desirable:

● Previous experience installing any of the following:

○ Telematics or tracking units

○ Dash cams or CCTV camera systems

○ Parking sensors, alarms, security or other in-car electronics

● Experience working on vans and HGVs as well as cars If you have solid hands-on vehicle experience and a genuine interest in auto electrics, we can provide the training you need.
