Full job description

Our client is a globally recognised technology group. They are a market leader in the design, manufacture and operation of solutions, delivering integrated hardware, software and service platforms to enable mobility worldwide.

The UK business is a key contributor, supporting blue-chip operators and public-sector clients across the country with end-to-end systems

They now require a Field Service Engineer to join their successful field service

team to work primarily at their customer sites across Essex - Billericay, Chelmsford, and Colchester & South West Suffolk.

THE ROLE

  • You will respond to faults, restore equipment to full service, and maintain technology to the highest standard while meeting relevant contractual SLAs.
  • Carry out first and second-line maintenance on equipment and respond to and repair ticket vending machine (TVM) devices.
  • Improve performance through training, experience and KPI feedback.
  • Assist in the installation or commissioning of equipment as required.
  • Ensure all relevant working practices comply with the statutory Health and Safety at Work Act and handle all associated administration.

THE INDIVIDUAL

  • To apply, you should have at least 2 years’ experience in a service, field service or site / technical support role, working on electronics, electro-mechanical or PC-controlled capital equipment.
  • Ideally, but not essential, you will have a technical qualification, such as City & Guilds 224, 236, NVQ / ONC / OND / HNC or HND or Degree in Electronic / Electrical / Mechanical / Systems Engineering or equivalent.
  • You should have good board-level electronics fault-finding skills.
  • Experience repairing and installing networked systems, barriers, gates/gating, automatic doors, access control, or ticketing/payment machines, note validators, coin mechanisms, or fare automation systems is advantageous but not necessary.
  • Relevant backgrounds include Security Systems (CCTV, Access Control), Transportation/Mass Transit (Revenue Collection/Ticketing), or ATM, EPOS, Biometrics, or Leisure/Gaming sectors. The Vending sector / Traffic sector, or perhaps a Systems integrator or capital equipment manufacturer or a technical company that delivers solutions to the public sector, e.g., NHS, Police, Local Authorities or Retail sectors.
  • You will work 40 hours, Monday–Friday & Stand-by stand-by/call-out one week in five (paid, door-to-door).
  • You will have a full, current UK driving licence.
  • Full product training, all tools, mobile/laptop & any expenses will be provided.
