Vehicle CCTV and Telematics Engineer with Fastview360

Job Purpose:
To install, maintain, and troubleshoot vehicle CCTV and telematics systems on a variety of vehicles, ensuring optimal performance, compliance with safety standards, and customer satisfaction. The engineer will also provide technical support and contribute to system upgrades and developments.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Installation and Maintenance
Install vehicle CCTV systems, telematics devices, and associated hardware (e.g., sensors, cameras, DVRs, GPS trackers), Route and secure wiring within vehicles to ensure durability and neatness, Calibrate and configure telematics devices for accurate data collection and transmission, Perform routine maintenance and updates on installed systems to ensure long-term functionality.
2. Diagnostics and Repairs
Diagnose and resolve technical issues with CCTV and telematics equipment in a timely manner, Replace faulty hardware components or update software to restore system functionality, Conduct tests post-repair to confirm resolution and system efficiency.
3. Customer Support
Communicate with customers to understand their system requirements or issues, Provide user training and support on installed systems, ensuring customers understand functionality, Offer recommendations for system upgrades based on vehicle or operational needs.
4. Compliance and Quality Control
Ensure all installations comply with industry standards, vehicle regulations, and company policies, Perform quality checks on installed systems to verify proper functionality and adherence to customer specifications.
5. Reporting and Documentation
Maintain detailed records of installations, maintenance activities, and repairs,
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in installing and configuring vehicle CCTV systems and telematics hardware, Strong knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, wiring and how to remove/refit interior and exterior panels to gain access for wiring routes, Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues related to telematics and CCTV, Familiarity with GPS systems, cellular communication, and fleet management software.
Communication Skills:
Clear and professional verbal and written communication to liaise with customers and team members, Ability to provide technical explanations and training to non-technical users.
Problem-Solving Skills:
Strong analytical skills for diagnosing technical issues and finding effective solutions. Capability to work under pressure and manage time efficiently.
Attention to detail to ensure high-quality installations and configurations.
Willingness to travel and stay away from home to various customer sites or vehicle depots.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications:
A qualification in electrical engineering, automotive engineering, or a related field (preferred), or a proven time served installer with industry knowledge and ability to prove this.
Relevant certifications in CCTV installation or telematics systems are advantageous.
Experience:
Proven experience in the installation and maintenance of vehicle CCTV and telematics systems.
Background in automotive electrical systems or similar roles (preferred).
Licenses:
Valid UK driver’s license
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
First-Time Fix Rate: Percentage of issues resolved on the first visit.
Installation Accuracy: Number of systems installed without rework or customer complaints.
Response Time: Time taken to respond to and resolve customer issues.
Customer Satisfaction: Feedback and ratings from customers.
Maintenance Efficiency: Number of systems serviced per day.
Working Conditions:
Environment: Field-based role, often at vehicle depots, customer locations, or roadside settings.
Hours: Full-time, with flexibility to work overtime or respond to emergency call-outs.
