Workshop Technician – Dartford
Full-time | Permanent | Workshop-based | Competitive rates of pay
Build your skills. Learn a specialist trade. Become part of a team.
We’re looking for a Workshop Technician to join our team in Dartford.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and wants to build a long-term career in engineering and automotive manufacturing.
You don’t need to have previous experience specifically within brake manufacturing or CNC engineering. What matters most to us is your attitude, reliability, willingness to learn and genuine interest in working with machinery and engineering.
You’ll receive comprehensive on-the-job training and one-to-one support, working alongside experienced members of our team. From day one, you’ll be learning how a specialist engineering business operates and developing practical skills that you can build on throughout your career.
Why join us?
We are a long-established British engineering company and a family-run business where people genuinely matter.
We specialise in the design and manufacture of high-performance and custom brake systems for a wide range of vehicles, including road cars, classic cars, race cars and kit cars. Our work ranges from one-off bespoke projects through to low-volume production.
This is a specialist industry, and opportunities to learn these skills from experienced engineers are relatively uncommon.
You won’t simply be another number on a production line. We invest in our people, provide hands-on training and give you the opportunity to develop into a skilled member of our engineering team.
If you are practical, proactive and keen to learn, this could be an excellent opportunity to start or develop your career in specialist automotive engineering.
What you’ll be doing
As a Workshop Technician, you’ll initially learn the fundamentals of our workshop and production processes, gradually taking on more responsibility as your skills and confidence develop.
Your duties will include:
- Learning different aspects of our specialist automotive engineering and production processes
- Assisting with CNC machine loading and unloading
- Carrying out basic quality checks on manufactured components
- Learning to safely operate workshop saws and prepare materials for production
- Receiving and checking metal deliveries, including checking sizes and specifications
- Moving and storing materials safely around the workshop
- Finishing and de-burring components after machining
- Manually removing sharp edges and countersinking where required
- Cleaning swarf from machines and maintaining a safe, tidy working environment
- Emptying swarf bins and assisting with workshop housekeeping
- Monitoring and maintaining coolant levels on CNC machines
- Monitoring and maintaining slideway lubrication levels
- Supporting different areas of the workshop as required
- Following workshop procedures and maintaining high standards of safety and quality
The role will develop over time, and full training will be provided. As you become more experienced, you’ll have the opportunity to learn more advanced aspects of our production processes.
What we're looking for
We’re interested in people who are:
- Practical and hands-on – you enjoy making, fixing, assembling or working with tools and machinery
- Reliable and punctual – you take pride in doing a good job and being someone the team can depend on
- Proactive – you see what needs doing and get involved
- Keen to learn – you’re interested in developing new technical and engineering skills
- Adaptable – you’re happy to learn different areas of the workshop
- Safety-conscious – you understand the importance of working safely around machinery
- Team-oriented – you’re willing to help colleagues and contribute to a positive working environment
- Interested in automotive or engineering – whether that interest comes from previous work, hobbies, education or simply a genuine passion for cars and engineering
Previous workshop, mechanical, manufacturing, engineering or automotive experience would be beneficial, but specific experience in our industry is not essential.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have worked with hand tools, machinery, vehicles, fabrication, mechanical assembly, manufacturing or other practical trades.
Training & development
You’ll start by working closely with an experienced member of the team, receiving structured induction, one-to-one training and hands-on guidance.
We’ll help you understand our processes, machinery and quality standards before gradually giving you more responsibility.
For the right person, this is more than simply a workshop job — it’s an opportunity to learn a specialist skill set and build a long-term career within engineering.
About us
We are proud of our reputation as a longstanding British engineering company and take pride in producing high-quality specialist brake components for some very interesting vehicles.
We have a traditional engineering environment, but we also use modern CNC, computer-controlled machinery and manufacturing processes.
Our team is passionate about what we do, and we’re committed to developing new talent — particularly people from the local community who want to learn and build a career with us.
Location
Our workshop is based in Dartford.
Due to the nature and start times of the role, we are ideally looking for candidates who can reliably commute to and from Dartford, preferably within approximately 45 minutes each way.
