Job Summary

Title: Bar Team Leader

Reporting to: Retail Manager

Hours: 37.5 hours per week.

Overview

UNICUS is a wholly owned subsidiary of The University of Sheffield, operating a number of distinct commercial services, including cafes, bars, hotels, conference and hospitality venues within the University campus. With a commercial income of £8m for 2024/25, the business is in growth with a high level of customer satisfaction and repeat business.

The Bar Team Leader will be responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of the bars at UNICUS, ensuring excellent customer service, efficient operations, and that brand standards are consistently maintained. The role will involve leading, managing, and motivating the bar team, ensuring all team members are working effectively and delivering a consistently high standard of service.

The Bar Team Leader will be responsible for the smooth running of each shift, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and stock control, and ensuring that all company policies, procedures, licensing requirements, and health and safety standards are adhered to at all times.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• To lead and motivate your team to achieve sales targets and ensure cost control is in line with budgets.
• To ensure a high quality, safe, customer focused provision of alcoholic beverages, hot and cold food menu, quality coffees and an innovative events programme.
• To adhere to, follow and implement licensing regulations
• Key holding responsibility, ensuring that the team is opening and closing of the business following security and financial regulations.
• To plan and manage staff rotas, within a set labour budget, ensuring the right people are on at the right time identifying any training and recruitment needs to the Retail Manager
• To create a team culture to ensure all the ACS and UNICUS Vision and values are understood and demonstrated.
• Encourage, motivate and support the team to achieve income and service standard targets whilst identifying cost savings and income generating opportunities.
• To ensure that all team members are fully briefed with the latest communications
• To ensure that you and the team are flexible and available to attend any training courses and briefings requested by the company
• Promote the business by liaising with all customers including students, staff and visitors.
• Any other duties commensurate with the grade of the post.

• Food and Beverage preparation experience
• Basic food hygiene qualifications
• Previous of working within a busy bar/pub hospitality environment

Pay: £27,500.00-£29,500.00 per year
