Full job description

We are seeking a Cafe Assistant to join us in a busy daytime coffee shop.

Chaplins Shake Shop is coffee shop based down in Selsey that sells hot and cold beverages, homemade bakes on the counter, hot and cold food, waffles, crepes and ice cream. We also offer afternoon tea. The shop seats up to 38 in an open plan setting, which comprises of 30 indoors and a further 8 uncovered outdoor seating.

Weekend working will be required. No evening work. Hours/days to be set in advance using a rota basis. Hours to be discussed at interview.

Role Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparation of homemade soups, scones, quiches, cakes and more.
  • Solo preparation of all orders.
  • To help ensure we meet all statutory requirements, including COSHH, HACCP and Environmental Health where appropriate.
  • Occasional preparation of catering orders.
  • Assisting with front of house duties when food orders are quiet, for example, taking orders, making drinks, cleaning tables etc.

Essential Skills

  • Previous kitchen and food prep experience.
  • Level 2 Food and Hygiene.
  • Allergy Awareness.
  • A team player with good communication skills, who enjoys working in a busy environment.
  • Punctual with excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
