Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and energetic Cafe Assistant to join our team at The Crafty Cuppa Cafe at Crafter's Companion, Evesham. The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing excellent customer service and maintaining high standards of food safety. This role involves supporting daily café operations, preparing beverages and food items, and ensuring a welcoming environment for all customers. Previous experience as a barista or in serving is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills within a vibrant hospitality setting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee and tea, ensuring quality standards are met
  • Assist customers with their orders in a friendly and professional manner
  • Handle food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches, cakes & light lunches according to health and safety guidelines
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and food safety across the cafe, including washing up area and table clearing.
  • Manage cash register operations, including basic maths for transactions and giving correct change
  • Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth service during busy periods
  • Uphold hygiene standards by following proper cleaning procedures and food safety protocols
  • Support team members during peak hours to ensure efficient service delivery

Requirements

  • Knowledge of food safety standards and practices
  • Previous barista experience or in serving is desirable but not essential; training will be provided
  • Ability to perform basic maths accurately for transactions and stock management
  • Strong organisational skills with good time management abilities to handle multiple tasks efficiently
  • Excellent communication skills with a friendly attitude towards customers and colleagues
  • Ability to work well under pressure during busy periods
  • Flexibility to work shifts that may include mornings, afternoons, or evenings as required
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene is advantageous but not essential. Must be willing to complete this if you do not already posses this qualification.
