Full job description

Role Overview

We are looking to recruit a motivated Cafe Assistant to join our small and dedicated team in the exciting PARKcafe situated on the Barker Business Park, Melmerby. The main focus of this role is to welcome customers, take orders (in person and over the phone), food preparation, offer support to the other team members and ensure the cafe is clean and tidy at all times.

  • The role is 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday), 7 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. although some flexibility is required.

- Assist in food preparation and presentation, taking pride in the quality of food produced.

- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the cafe.

- Serve customers with a friendly and helpful attitude

- Accurately check any deliveries ensuring there are no shortages and all produce is of the required quality.

- Support the Cafe Manager in effective stock control ensuring waste is minimised.

- Handle cash transactions accurately

- Ensure compliance with food safety and health and safety regulations

- Support the team in various tasks as required

Requirements:

- Knowledge of food safety practices and experience in a busy kitchen environment

- Ability to work well in a team and independently

- You will have excellent attention to detail

- Excellent customer service skills with a can-do attitude

- Strong communication skills

- Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently

- Previous experience in a similar role is desirable
