Weetons Deli & Food Hall Assistant

The Role - Full-time: 40 hrs per week, 5 days of 7 to include weekend work

We are looking for an experienced Deli & Food Hall Assistant to join our successful and expanding delicatessen department in our Food Hall here at Weetons Leeds Road.

Our Deli Team work closely with our production team to meticulously prepare our fantastic array of counter produce, ensuring the highest standards of quality and freshness. This includes fresh sandwiches, salads, pastries, pies, frittatas and more!

Our ethos goes beyond just delivering exceptional deli creations. We are proud to support local artisan cheese makers and fresh goods suppliers, investing within our community and backing their commitment to exceptional food and produce.

Duties

Safety & Compliance: Ensuring the delicatessen department is meticulously clean and well presented at all times, meeting all health and safety standards in line with our expectations and EHO requirements.

Customer Service: Assisting customers with selecting produce, providing recommendations, and ensuring Exceptional Everyday customer service is achieved.

Increase Sales & Margin / Reduce Costs/Waste: Working alongside the Deli manager to support strategies to increase sales, promoting high-margin products and link sales. Minimising waste and unnecessary cost.

Supporting the deli counter food preparation & presentation: Ensuring goods are properly presented and prepared according to our specification, maintaining high product quality at all times.

Supporting the managing of Stock: processing the intake of stock ensuring quality control and proper storage.

Quality Control: Dating & inspecting goods ensuring quality, freshness, and safety, including overseeing proper handling and storage to reduce spoilage and maintain high product standards.

Maintaining Equipment: Ensuring all deli related equipment is cleaned, and properly maintained to avoid unnecessary downtime or additional costs.

Experience / Skills Required

• Proven commercial success gained within a retail environment coupled with exceptional customer-service skills.
• The successful candidate must also be hard working, proactive in their approach, with the ability to multitask, prioritise tasks and thrive in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment.
• Retail Delicatessen or Food Experience (preferred).
• Minimum of 2 years in food or hospitality retail
• Exceptional customer service skills

Qualifications:

Preferred

• Level 2/3 food hygiene
