Job Summary:

We are looking for a friendly, reliable, and motivated Assistant Manager to support the day-to-day running of our craft bakery. The successful candidate will help deliver exceptional customer service, lead and support the bakery team and baristas, maintain high food safety and cleanliness standards, and ensure the bakery operates efficiently during each shift.

This is a hands-on role that combines customer service, team leadership, and operational responsibilities in a fast-paced, community-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

· Support the daily operation of the bakery, ensuring smooth and efficient service.

· Supervise and motivate team members during shifts.

· Deliver outstanding customer service and resolve customer queries or complaints professionally.

· Open and close the bakery, including cash handling and security procedures.

· Assist with staff scheduling, training, and onboarding new employees.

· Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering ingredients, packaging, and retail products.

· Ensure bakery displays are attractive, well-stocked, and maintained throughout the day.

· Maintain high standards of food hygiene, health and safety, and cleanliness in accordance with relevant regulations.

· Assist in monitoring sales performance and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and customer experience.

· Support the implementation of promotions, seasonal products, and merchandising displays.

· Work alongside the bakery team to assist with serving customers, preparing drinks, packaging products, and completing general bakery duties as needed.

· Report maintenance issues or equipment faults promptly.

· Act as the manager on duty in the absence of the Store Manager.

Skills & Experience

Essential

· Previous experience in a supervisory or team leader role within hospitality, food service, coffee shop or a bakery.

· Excellent customer service and communication skills.

· Strong organisational and time management abilities.

· Confidence leading and motivating a team.

· Ability to remain calm and organised in a busy environment.

· Good numeracy skills and experience handling cash and operating tills.

· Flexible availability, including weekends and early mornings.

Desirable

· Previous bakery or café experience.

· Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above).

· Experience with stock control and ordering.

· Knowledge of food safety regulations.

Working Hours:
