Full job description

WE’RE HIRING A CHEF/COOK/KITCHEN TEAM MEMBER

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Experience working as a chef in a fast paced cafe, restaurant or kitchen desired, but not essential.

Happy to chip in wherever is needed - we all work hard for each other and want to bring in somebody who can get on board with that ethos and bring good energy to the table. No job is beneath anybody - we work as a team and help cover sickness and breaks when necessary. It’s what makes the place a fun place to be as a member of staff and that reflects on the customer experience.

Clean, tidy and organised. Space is limited. It’s important to look after it and use it smartly.

Food hygiene standards are important to us and we expect you to feel the same way. If you don’t already have a level 2 food hygiene certificate we would want you to be willing to obtain it.

Maintaining stock levels. Again, space is limited. We can’t have loads of stock on site, but we also don’t want to run out of things. We order daily from local suppliers so this should make it easier, but we encourage the right person to come in and do their own research into good produce they want to use.

Positive, calm, can-do attitude in the kitchen. When it’s busy, it’s busy. We need somebody who can handle that whilst making food to a high standard in a timely manner.

Ultimately, we make alright bread and we just want to make some alright food to serve in it, with it or alongside it. We don’t want to stray too far from the menu set up we’ve got, but we’re looking for someone who can fit in well with our team, who loves to work seasonally and has the creativity to work with us to continue changing the menu each month.

It’s a fun job, the kitchen is open 8-3 Wednesday to Sunday. We are looking for both full time and part time candidates but weekend availability is a must.

WHAT WE OFFER

- Competitive salary £12.50-£13.50 (based on experience).

- Paid overtime.

- Free staff lunches.

- Free unlimited coffee on shift.

- Staff discount on food and drink.

- A supportive and friendly team in an independent business.

- Opportunity and freedom to shape our monthly menus and bring your ideas to life.

- Daytime hours with no late nights with the same two consecutive days off in a row.

- Staff socials and events.

- 28 days holiday.

- Pension scheme.

If all that sounds good and you want to come put some nice food onto some lovely chipped enamel plates - email: hello@averagedoughsbakery.com with your CV and a cover letter explaining who you are and why you want to work with us.

Recruiting is hard. We get quite a few applicants. We do try and get back to you, but that might not always be possible. We’re in the shop working long days 6 days a week - so please bear that in mind.
