Shift Pattern: Variable shifts, including weekends and peak trading periods

About the Role

We're looking for enthusiastic and experienced Café Supervisors to join the team at Sainsbury's Taste Café in Barnstaple.

This is an exciting opportunity for hospitality, catering, or retail professionals who enjoy leading teams, delivering exceptional customer service, and maintaining high operational standards in a busy café environment.

As a Café Supervisor, you'll support the Café Manager with the day-to-day running of the café, helping to create a welcoming atmosphere for customers while ensuring excellent food quality, service standards, and team performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and support the catering team during shifts.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Assist with the preparation and service of food and beverages.
• Support team training, coaching, and development.
• Monitor service standards and drive operational excellence.
• Handle customer enquiries and resolve issues professionally and effectively.
• Operate tills and ensure accurate cash handling procedures.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards at all times.
• Support stock control, ordering, and waste management processes.
• Assist the Café Manager with daily operational tasks and shift planning.
• Lead by example and promote a positive team culture.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Previous experience in a supervisory position within hospitality, catering, retail, or a similar customer-facing environment.

• Ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced environment.
• Good understanding of food hygiene and health & safety requirements.
• Flexible approach to working a variety of shift patterns.
