Full job description

Team Leader/supervisor

25-30 hours per week 4 days out of 7

£13.5 - £14hr depending on experience

Enthusiastic and responsible team leader or supervisor. Must be hands on and willing to take responsibility for motivating a team of six staff who are on duty at any one time to maintain excellent customer service and food standards, while also looking at ways to improve what we do.

Fettle’s been open for four years and in that time we’ve become a firm student favourite lunch spot with an excellent reputation for our freshly baked sourdough focaccias, creative salads and delicious coffee and smoothies in an informal and relaxed atmosphere.

A recent google review sums up what we do:

Our first visit was due to catching the scents escaping this spot on our way past, a quick decision to turn on our heels and pop in for lunch was the best decision!! We have had yummy soups, amazing foccacias, super salads, great coffees and hot chocolates and refreshing smoothies. Can't wait to be back for more.”

The ideal candidate will have at least two year’s experience in a busy cafe environment with sound food preparation knowledge, good barista skills and an eagerness to have tasks completed thoroughly. You will also need some leadership experience and be able to demonstrate ways you have shown initiative to improve businesses you have worked in.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Throughout the week you’ll be working with two other supervisors, kitchen staff and part time employees to ensure all food preparation is ready for our busy lunch times.
  • Setting up the cafe and food counter and confidently dialling in the coffee machine and grinder for consistent pouring.
  • Delegate tasks to ensure all food preparation is complete and ready for lunch.
  • Direct staff to maintain efficient service of food and drinks throughout the day.
  • Complete preparation lists for the next day leaving a clear understanding of what needs to be done.
  • Ensure cleaning and HAACP systems are being followed and fettle is left clean and organised - just how you’d like to find it in the morning.
  • Train new staff for consistent food & drinks preparation

If you’re a social media enthusiast then that would be a big plus but is not essential.
