WILD & SEEK SUPERVISOR

Wild & Seek Outdoor Play | Attached to Wild Root Cafe

Part-time | 2–5 days per week | Monday–Friday, with some weekend availability

Wild & Seek is the outdoor play space attached to Wild Root Cafe, a place where children can explore, get muddy, use their imaginations and enjoy being outdoors, whatever the weather.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, organised and confident Wild & Seek Supervisor to take ownership of the day-to-day running of our outdoor play space and help us continue to make it somewhere really special for children and their grown-ups.

This is more than a play supervision role. You’ll be the friendly face of Wild & Seek, responsible for keeping the site running beautifully day to day, while working closely with our Operations Manager to develop events, improve the space and grow what we offer.

We’re looking for one person to work Monday–Friday, or two people who would like to job share across 2 and 3 days per week.

THE ROLE

You’ll take the lead on Wild & Seek when you’re on site, working independently while being part of the wider Wild Root team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Opening and preparing Wild & Seek ahead of each session
  • Welcoming families, checking guests in and ensuring all required disclaimers are completed
  • Supervising the play space and creating a safe, relaxed and welcoming environment
  • Being a friendly and reassuring point of contact for children and their grown-ups
  • Managing session changeovers and resetting the space ready for the next group
  • Keeping the site clean, tidy, well-presented and cared for throughout the day
  • Closing and securing the site at the end of the day
  • Checking that first aid supplies, refreshments, play equipment and other essentials are fully stocked
  • Carrying out regular stock checks and ordering equipment and supplies when needed
  • Reporting maintenance issues and ensuring anything requiring attention is followed up
  • Helping us develop and improve the play space, bringing ideas for new equipment, activities and ways to make Wild & Seek even better
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of Wild & Seek events, seasonal activities and children’s parties
  • Helping create and manage staff rotas for our small Wild & Seek team
  • Supporting and guiding the wider Wild & Seek team to ensure sessions run smoothly
  • Working closely with the Wild Root Operations Manager and café team
  • Supporting the café when needed, particularly with drinks, helping Wild & Seek families when ordering food, and during busy events and parties

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT THE ROLE

Wild & Seek is a small team of around 3–4 people, so this role will suit someone who enjoys responsibility and wants to have a genuine influence on how the space operates.

You won’t be sitting behind a desk or simply watching the play area. You’ll be actively involved in making Wild & Seek work, from opening the gates and welcoming families, to spotting that something needs fixing, coming up with an idea for a new event, ordering new equipment or helping organise the team rota.

You’ll work closely with our Operations Manager, who will support you, but we’re looking for someone who is confident making decisions, taking initiative and getting things done without needing constant direction.

YOU’LL BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU ARE:

  • Warm, friendly and genuinely enjoy being around children and families
  • Confident taking the lead and working independently
  • Organised, proactive and naturally good at spotting what needs doing
  • Someone who takes pride in their surroundings and notices the little details
  • Comfortable managing a small team and helping colleagues stay organised
  • Creative and full of ideas for events, activities and improving the space
  • Calm and confident when things get busy or unexpected situations arise
  • Happy working outdoors in all seasons and all weathers
  • Reliable and responsible
  • Comfortable communicating with both children and adults
  • Someone who wants to become part of a small, growing business rather than simply work a shift

Previous experience working with children, in hospitality, events, leisure or a supervisory role would be a bonus, but we’re more interested in the right person and the right attitude.

WORKING WITH WILD ROOT

Wild & Seek is part of the wider Wild Root family, so you’ll work closely with our café team.

Wild Root has a larger team of around 14 people, giving you plenty of support when needed. During busy periods, events and parties, you may help with drinks, food orders and looking after Wild & Seek families in the café.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys being part of a team and is happy to get stuck in wherever needed.
