THE STREET BAKESHOP

HEAD BARISTA

Full-time | 5 days per week
Reports to: Bakery manager

ABOUT US

WE MAKE FOOD & COFFEE THAT PEOPLE COME BACK FOR.

The Street Bakeshop is an award-winning artisan craft bakery in the heart of Hampshire.

We bake from scratch.
We use real ingredients.
We avoid chemical rubbish.

We make sourdough bread, pastries, cakes and doughnuts for retail and wholesale customers food that people genuinely love. Food worth coming back for. And we take our coffee just as seriously.

We believe great food deserves great coffee.
Properly sourced. Properly extracted. Properly served.

Our coffee isn’t an add-on - it’s part of the experience. It’s the handshake at the counter. The reason someone stays. The reason they come back tomorrow.

We’re not here to be average.
We’re here to be recognised across England for epic food and outstanding customer service.

WE DON’T DO “THAT’LL DO.”

At The Street Bakeshop, we make exciting, delicious, unexpectedly good food - and we serve coffee to match.

We push standards.
We protect quality.
We care about how it tastes, how it looks, and how it makes people feel.

If it’s not F***ING AMAZING, we won’t sell it. Because “good enough” simply isn’t good enough.

We’re building something special - and we’re just getting started.

The Role

Coffee at The Street Bakeshop isn’t secondary - it’s part of the experience.

As Head Barista, you lead the coffee function on site. You set the standard, train the team, and make sure every cup is consistent, dialled in and worth coming back for.

You’ll be working with speciality coffee from The Roasting Party on a setup most baristas dream about. We have a La Marzocco PB, Mahlkönig grinders and an Uber Milk. This is proper coffee, done right. You’ll dial in daily, read the coffee, adjust through service and chase consistency in every shot. It’s about craft, flavour and standards - knowing what good looks like and delivering it every time.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll be on the machine, on the floor, and in the detail -developing people, supporting service, and stepping up to lead shifts when needed.

This role requires flexibility to work across weekdays and weekends (not every weekend day).

What You’ll Own

Coffee & Training

  • Deliver consistently exceptional coffee
  • Dial in daily and maintain quality throughout service
  • Train, mentor and develop the barista team
  • Set clear standards for workflow, milk, extraction and presentation
  • Support new drinks and seasonal menu development

Front of House & Service

  • Lead from the front during service - visible, calm and in control
  • Support FOH teams to deliver fast, smooth, high-quality service
  • Step into shift leadership when required
  • Engage with customers confidently and build a strong atmosphere
  • Handle feedback and resolve issues professionally

Standards & Operations

  • Keep barista stations clean, organised and fully set for service
  • Ensure consistency in drinks and service flow
  • Work closely with bakery and FOH teams to keep everything aligned
  • Responsible to help in all FOH Operations

Stock & Performance

  • Monitor coffee, milk and beverage stock
  • Support ordering and reduce waste
  • Help drive coffee sales and improve performance

Health & Safety

  • Maintain high hygiene and safety standards
  • Take ownership of equipment care and reporting issues

You’ll Thrive Here If…

  • You care about quality and consistency, not shortcuts
  • You’re confident leading a team in a busy environment
  • You enjoy training and developing others
  • You bring energy to the floor and stay calm under pressure
  • You take pride in doing things properly
  • You have a genuine passion for speciality coffee and the culture around it
  • You understand extraction, dial-in and grinder adjustment - and stay on top of it throughout service
  • You can create perfect latte art

THE SWEET STUFF

  • Competitive pay above National and Living Wage
  • Extra holiday after four years’ service
  • Free hot drinks and staff food while working
  • 30% off food and drinks across all bakeries
  • Structured training and supplier learning sessions
  • Paid volunteering days with partner charities
  • Summer and Christmas company parties
  • Regular team socials
  • Pension scheme
  • Refer-a-friend bonus scheme
  • Fresh sourdough loaf when you start

This role is about supporting a growing artisan brand, helping build a strong team and protecting standards that matter. If you want to lead from the front and be part of something amazing - we’d love to hear from you.

Send your CV and tell us what “f*ing amazing” means to you.
