Full job description

Exciting New Site Opening in Basingstoke

As part of our continued growth and expansion, we are excited to be opening a brand-new site in Basingstoke.

Our concept brings together Mexican street food, breakfast offerings, freshly prepared barista coffee and indulgent churro desserts, all within a well-known supermarket location.

We are now looking for an experienced Supervisor with a strong barista background to join the team and play a key role in the successful opening and day-to-day running of the site.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing position, so we are looking for someone who is confident working behind a coffee machine, has experience producing consistently high-quality coffees and is also comfortable supervising and supporting a small team.

You should ideally have previous experience within a busy café, coffee shop, QSR or counter-service environment. Experience with brands such as Costa, Starbucks, Pret, Caffè Nero or a similar fast-paced coffee or food operation would be particularly relevant.

You will work closely with the Site Manager and help lead a small team during shifts. You’ll be expected to lead from the front – preparing barista coffee, breakfast items, fresh Mexican food and churro desserts, serving customers and ensuring excellent standards throughout the site.

Full training on our food and brand standards will be provided.

Working Hours

Full-time, typically across 5 shifts per week, including weekends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Site Manager with the day-to-day running of the site
  • Supervise and lead the team during shifts
  • Prepare high-quality barista coffee consistently and efficiently
  • Help train team members in coffee preparation and barista standards
  • Deliver excellent customer service and lead by example
  • Prepare breakfast items, Mexican food and churro desserts to brand standards
  • Ensure food safety, hygiene and health & safety procedures are followed
  • Complete opening and closing procedures
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and organisation
  • Assist with stock control, deliveries and minimising waste
  • Handle customer queries and feedback professionally
  • Support the training and development of new team members
  • Ensure smooth and efficient service during busy periods
  • Take responsibility for the site when the Manager is not present

Requirements

  • Previous barista experience is essential
  • Previous supervisory, team leader or senior barista experience is preferred
  • Confident using a commercial espresso machine and preparing a range of coffees
  • Experience within a busy café, coffee shop, QSR or hospitality environment
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Confident leading and supporting a small team
  • Good understanding of food safety and hygiene
  • Reliable, organised and able to take responsibility during a shift
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible to work mornings, evenings and weekends

This would be an ideal opportunity for an experienced Senior Barista, Team Leader or Café Supervisor looking to take the next step and be involved in an exciting new site opening.

If you have a passion for great coffee, food and customer service and enjoy leading from the front, we’d love to hear from you.

Please submit your CV along with a short cover letter outlining your barista and supervisory experience.
