Job Overview

We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic, experienced and hardworking Breakfast Chef to join our kitchen team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality breakfast and brunch dishes, ensuring food is consistently prepared to a high standard and service runs smoothly.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a busy kitchen environment, a passion for good food, and the ability to remain calm and organised during busy service periods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook breakfast and brunch dishes to a consistently high standard.
  • Ensure all food is prepared, cooked, and presented according to the café's recipes and standards.
  • Work efficiently during busy breakfast and lunch service.
  • Complete food preparation and kitchen set-up before service.
  • Ensure all ingredients are prepared and ready for service.
  • Maintain excellent standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety.
  • Follow HACCP procedures and ensure all relevant food safety records are completed.
  • Follow correct procedures for food storage, stock rotation, and date labelling.
  • Ensure allergen and dietary requirements are handled correctly and communicated clearly.
  • Monitor food quality throughout service and report any issues to the Kitchen Manager.
  • Minimise food waste through effective preparation, portion control, and correct stock rotation.
  • Assist with stock checks, deliveries, and kitchen organisation when required.
  • Keep workstations, equipment, and the kitchen clean and organised throughout the day.
  • Complete cleaning duties and ensure the kitchen is left clean and ready for the following service.
  • Work closely with the Kitchen Manager and wider café team to ensure smooth and efficient service.
  • Support other members of the kitchen team when required.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements.
  • Contribute positively to the kitchen team and maintain a professional working environment.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience as a Breakfast Chef, Chef, Cook, or in a similar kitchen role is desirable.
  • Experience working in a busy café, restaurant, hotel, or food-service environment.
  • Good knowledge of food hygiene and food safety practices.
  • Ability to prepare and cook breakfast dishes efficiently and consistently.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure during busy service periods.
  • Good attention to detail and pride in food quality.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Food Safety qualification is desirable.
  • Relevant catering or culinary qualifications are desirable but not essential.

Working Hours & Conditions

This is a full-time position of 41 hours per week, working 5 days out of 7.

Working hours will generally start from 5:00am onwards, depending on the needs of the business, with the working day finishing no later than 4:00pm.

We endeavour to ensure that you have at least one weekend day off each week. However, a degree of flexibility will be required, particularly when providing holiday cover or supporting the business during periods of increased demand.

The role is hands-on and based within a busy café kitchen, requiring good organisation, reliability, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
