Bakeri Baltzersen are look for someone to join our Harrogate kitchen team as a Kitchen Assistant.

About us

Our Bakeri Baltzersen shop in Harrogate offers a range of breads and pastries to purchase over the counter. In addition we have sandwiches and a limited menu of dishes that can be eaten in the cafe area or taken away.

The Position

This is a part-time role and we are looking to hire for a start date in August so we can get people trained and ready to start solo from September onwards.

We are looking for someone to work on Saturdays and Sundays from 8.30am - 4.30pm. There will be scope for additional shifts to cover holidays which can be arranged with the Head Chef depending on availability.

You will work in our upstairs service kitchen.

This role could be split between two people if required.

What we're looking for

We are ideally looking for someone who has prior experience working in a kitchen setting.

You'll be shown how to prepare a limited number of dishes for service such as our traditional Scandinavian waffles, putting together some sandwiches to re-stock our counter and heating/plating our stews and soups. You will need to serve some of these dishes to the table so you need to confidence to be able to engage with guests.

One of your roles will also to be the kitchen porter - loading and unloading the dishwasher to ensure we have the right crockery and cutlery available for service at all times.

Weekends are busy so you'll also need to keep an eye out on the floor and assist the front of house team with clearing and cleaning tables so we have places for guests to be seated.

Working on shift you’ll get free tea and coffee plus a sandwich for lunch. You can also use a staff discount to purchase products from the shop, and there is often bread/pastry that can be taken home at the end of the shift.

We provide company branded tees and aprons.

No-one at Baltzersen's is on a salary. You are paid for every hour that your work and we expect our team to average around 37.5 hrs/week.

Hourly pay for this position is linked to age (although prior experience will also be considered):

Under 18: £9.50

18-20: £10.85

21 and over: £12.71

Holiday pay is calculated on every hour that you work.

Pay: £9.50-£12.71 per hour
