Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for food preparation, and a solid background in kitchen operations. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your culinary expertise within a professional hospitality environment, supporting the Head Chef in delivering exceptional dining experiences. The Assistant Chef will be responsible for supervising kitchen staff, ensuring food safety standards are maintained, and assisting with food production to meet high-quality standards.

Duties

  • Assist in preparing and cooking a variety of dishes in accordance with menu specifications and quality standards
  • Supervise and manage kitchen staff, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to health and safety regulations
  • Oversee food safety procedures, including proper storage, handling, and sanitation practices
  • Support the organisation of food production schedules to meet service times
  • Assist in training junior kitchen staff and interns, fostering a positive team environment
  • Ensure all food preparation areas are clean, organised, and fully stocked with necessary ingredients and supplies
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop new menu items and improve existing recipes
  • Serve as a point of contact for kitchen operations during shifts, maintaining smooth communication between team members

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a professional kitchen environment, ideally within a restaurant or hospitality setting
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food handling
  • Demonstrable supervisory or team management experience within a culinary context
  • Proficiency in food preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation skills
  • Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and guide kitchen staff effectively
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under pressure
  • Good communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and suppliers
  • Previous experience in food production, hospitality, or serving roles is highly desirable
  • A genuine passion for culinary arts and continuous learning within the hospitality industry

Pay: From £600.00 per week
