Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Baker to join the team at Rack Sandwich Shop's production kitchen in Ardwick, Manchester.

You would be responsible for creating high-quality focaccia that we use to produce premium pre-packaged sandwiches that we supply to cafes and coffee shops around Greater Manchester as well as supplying our three sandwich shops in Greater Manchester. During quieter times there may also be a need to assist with other kitchen preparation tasks.

The role involves working alone for the first half of your shift to ensure the focaccia is ready for the rest of the team to start producing sandwiches early. The shift pattern is Sunday-Thursday 2am-10am with Friday and Saturday as your days off.

We are also looking to expand our baked goods range to include cakes and cookies so if you are keen to be involved in developing new products this role would be great for you.

Duties

  • Prepare and bake high quality focaccia bread.
  • Operate bakery equipment such as a mixer and oven.
  • Assist with other food preparation tasks.
  • Follow established recipes and food safety guidelines to ensure consistency and quality in all products
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bakery workspace in compliance with health regulations
  • Assist in inventory management by monitoring ingredients and supplies, placing orders as needed
  • Collaborate with team members to develop new recipes and improve existing products
  • Ensure all baked items are presented attractively and served at optimal freshness

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in baking within a restaurant or bakery setting
  • Strong knowledge of culinary techniques related to baking and food safety standards
  • Hands-on experience with kitchen equipment used in baking processes
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
  • Prior kitchen or culinary experience is highly desirable; formal culinary training is a plus
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and quality throughout all tasks

Pay: £12.80 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
