The role

We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys hospitality, takes pride in delivering great service and can help lead a busy front-of-house team.

Working closely with our Retail Operations Manager and wider management team, you'll play an important role in the day-to-day running of the Café & Pizzeria, helping to maintain high standards, develop the team and deliver an excellent customer experience.

This is a hands-on position. You'll be expected to lead by example, take an active role in leading service and ensure shifts run smoothly, efficiently and to consistently high standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and coordinating front-of-house shifts across the Café & Pizzeria.
• Supporting, motivating and developing the FOH team.
• Maintaining high standards of customer service, presentation and cleanliness.
• Managing the flow of service, working closely with the kitchen to ensure smooth communication and efficient food delivery.
• Handling customer enquiries, feedback and complaints professionally.
• Overseeing opening and closing procedures, cash handling and daily operational checks.
• Supporting stock management, ordering and other back-office procedures.
• Helping drive sales through excellent service, product knowledge and effective promotions.
• Coordinating takeaway, delivery and collection orders.
• Supporting the Retail Operations Manager with new ideas, initiatives and improvements across the business.

Flourish Craft Bakery is an established, independent artisan bakery and patisserie, supplying some of London's leading restaurants and hotels for over 25 years.

Alongside our wholesale bakery, we operate a busy, vibrant Café & Pizzeria in Watford, serving freshly baked breads, pastries, brunch dishes and authentic Neapolitan pizzas.

We're continuing to develop and grow our retail business, with plenty of exciting plans ahead, and we're looking for an enthusiastic, capable Assistant Manager to help us deliver them.

About you

We're looking for someone who is positive, reliable and enjoys being part of a busy hospitality environment.

Ideally, you'll have:

• Previous experience in a busy café, restaurant or similar hospitality environment.
• Supervisory or team leadership experience, or the confidence and ambition to take that next step.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• The ability to remain calm, organised and effective during busy services.
• A hands-on approach and willingness to support the team wherever needed.
• A genuine passion for hospitality and looking after customers.
• A flexible approach to working hours, including weekends and some evenings.

Above all, we're looking for the right attitude. Someone who takes ownership, leads by example and wants to contribute to a business that's moving forward.

Working hours & pay

This is a full-time position, working approximately 40 hours per week across a rota covering Monday to Sunday.

Shifts will include a mixture of daytime, evening and weekend work, with weekend days off rotated fairly across the team.

Pay is £14.50 per hour plus tips, currently averaging approximately £1.50 per hour, giving total average earnings of around £16.00 per hour.
