About Tina Rose

Tina Rose Café & Garden is a welcoming café and Community Interest Company (CIC) based in Leam Lane, Gateshead. We have a friendly, supportive team and serve a range of hot food and drinks, while also supporting our local community through activities, events and other initiatives.

We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable and flexible Bank Café Assistants to join our team and help us deliver excellent customer service while maintaining the high standards we pride ourselves on.

About the role

This is a flexible bank staff position with no contracted or guaranteed hours. Bank staff provide additional support when needed, including staff sickness, holidays, busy periods, community activities and special events.

Shifts may be available Wednesday to Sunday, depending on the needs of the café. You will be contacted via WhatsApp, telephone or text when cover is required.

We particularly encourage applications from young people aged 16 to 21 who are looking to gain valuable work experience, develop new skills and become part of a friendly team.

We understand that school, college and other commitments are important. We will endeavour to offer shifts that accommodate your availability and commitments wherever possible.

Staff can choose whether to accept individual shift offers. However, reliability and ongoing availability are important, and we will periodically review whether the arrangement meets the needs of both the café and the team.

Your responsibilities

Your duties will include:

* Preparing and serving hot and cold drinks.

* Preparing and serving food to customers.

* Taking customer orders and processing payments.

* Keeping tables, worktops, equipment and customer areas clean and tidy.

* Following food hygiene, health and safety procedures at all times.

* Maintaining high standards of personal hygiene and cleanliness.

* Supporting community meals, activities and events organised through the CIC.

* Working as part of a team to ensure the café runs smoothly.

* Helping with other day to day café duties when required.

Previous café or hospitality experience is desirable but not essential. Full training will be provided, making this a great opportunity for someone looking to gain their first job or build experience in hospitality.

Relevant hygiene training and any required courses will be discussed during the interview process.

Pay and flexibility

Pay is dependent on age, with rates above the applicable minimum wage. For example, indicative rates are £8.50 per hour for 16 year olds and £13 per hour for those aged 21 and over, subject to confirmation of the final pay structure.

As this is a bank role, there are no contracted or guaranteed hours. Shifts will be offered according to the needs of the café and community hub.

We understand that many applicants may be balancing work with school, college or other commitments. We will endeavour to accommodate your availability when arranging shifts, although flexibility will be important as cover requirements can vary.

There may be opportunities to take on additional hours and responsibilities in the future, depending on business needs, performance and suitability.

Uniform and training

A uniform is provided, with further guidance on appropriate casual or smart dress discussed during the recruitment process.

Full training will be provided to help you learn our menu, customer service standards, daily duties and hygiene procedures.
