Overview

SOCIABLE HOURS/NO SPLIT SHIFTS. MIN 20 HOURS A WEEK. NO SUNDAYS

We are seeking a new Cafe Chef to join our small established cafe team. A passion for food, a flair for presentation and a comprehensive understanding of food safety standards are a must. The Birdhouse is proud to serve its local community but has also become a destination cafe offering excellent food and service in a vibrant friendly atmosphere.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate and develop our seasonal menus, run the kitchen, manage orders/systems and help maintain exceptional service for our valued customers.

Duties

  • Lead and supervise the kitchen ensuring smooth daily operations and high-quality food preparation.
  • Prepare, cook, and present a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes and standards. Breakfast/Lunch/Baked goods.
  • Oversee food production processes, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and adherence to food safety regulations. Good time management within this busy working day is essential.
  • Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and maintain organisation within the kitchen .
  • Collaborate to develop new menu ideas that reflect current trends and customer preferences.
  • Ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are maintained throughout .
  • Qualifications
  • Proven experience in a culinary or kitchen environment, ideally within a restaurant or cafe setting.
  • Supervising experience with the ability to manage a small team when required.
  • Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food safety protocols.
  • Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in food presentation and quality control.
  • Knowledge of current culinary trends and innovative menu development is desirable.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of service.
  • An amiable enthusiastic 'can-do' attitude is essential. We have each others backs, pay attention and jump in to help each other when necessary.

This role offers sociable hours in a vibrant working atmosphere within a supportive team, Minimum 20 hours a week - possibly more TBC.

Pay: £13.50-£15.00 per hour
