Full job description

CHEF – DULWICH PICTURE GALLERY
Full Time | 40 hours per week

We’re looking for an experienced Chef to join the team at Dulwich Picture Gallery, working in onsite café.

This is a busy, daytime only operation serving fresh food to Gallery visitors, families and the local community, alongside catering for children’s parties and daytime events.

We’re looking for someone who takes real pride in their food, works well as part of a team and can maintain great standards even when service gets busy.

What you’ll be doing

  • Preparing and cooking fresh food consistently and to a high standard
  • Supporting service in the Gallery Cafe
  • Preparing food for children’s parties and daytime events
  • Following prep lists and working closely with the Sous Chef and Head Chef
  • Maintaining excellent food safety, allergen and hygiene standards
  • Managing portion control, stock rotation and wastage
  • Keeping the kitchen clean, organised and ready for service
  • Working quickly, calmly and positively as part of the wider team

What we’re looking for

You’ll have previous experience as a Chef in a café, restaurant or similar busy kitchen, with a good understanding of food safety and allergens.

You’ll be organised, reliable and comfortable working at pace, with high standards of cleanliness and presentation.

Just as importantly, you’ll be someone who cares about what they do, supports the people around them and takes pride in being part of a great team.

Hours: 40 hours per week, 5 days out of 7, including most weekends and bank holidays.
Location: Dulwich Picture Gallery, London
Salary: £28,000 - £30,160

Application deadline: 9am, Monday 14 September. Please submit your CV and a cover letter outlining your relevant experience to recruitment@ dulwichpicturegallery.org.uk. Please get in touch if you require any support with your application. Interviews are expected to take place w/c 21 September with a start date of 1 October 2026.

As part of Dulwich Picture Gallery, you’ll be joining an organisation built around three values: Dare to try, Take others with you and Show you care.

And, unlike many Chef roles, this is a daytime operation, so you can work in hospitality and still get your evenings back.

Pay: £28,000.00-£30,160.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Company pension
  • Discounted or free food
  • Employee discount
  • Gym membership
  • Store discount

Work Location: In person
