Today Bread is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Full-Time Barista to join our team at our Walthamstow bakery and café.

We are an independent sourdough bakery and café, passionate about serving speciality coffee, freshly baked sourdough, pastries, sandwiches, salads and seasonal food.

We are looking for someone who genuinely loves coffee, takes pride in delivering consistently high-quality drinks and enjoys providing friendly, welcoming customer service.

This is a hands-on role in a busy café environment, so being organised, reliable, proactive and a great team player is essential. We believe that great coffee and excellent customer service go hand in hand, and we want someone who shares that mindset.

Job Details

• Job type: Full-time, Permanent
• Location: Today Bread, 6–10 Central Parade, 137 Hoe Street, Walthamstow, London, E17 4RT
• Pay: £12.75–£13.25 per hour, depending on experience
• Additional pay: Tips
• Start date: Immediate start available
• Schedule: Full-time, with early shifts starting from 6:00am. Full flexibility across weekdays and weekends is required.

Main Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve high-quality coffee and espresso-based drinks, following company recipes and presentation standards.
• Dial in, calibrate and maintain espresso machines, grinders and other coffee equipment to ensure consistently excellent coffee.
• Steam milk correctly, maintain drink consistency and demonstrate good latte art skills.
• Deliver friendly, professional and efficient customer service, making every customer feel welcome.
• Share coffee knowledge, recommend products and help customers explore our menu.
• Actively promote seasonal drinks, bakery products and other menu items.
• Keep the coffee bar clean, organised, fully stocked and ready for service at all times.
• Complete daily and weekly cleaning procedures, including backflushing and equipment maintenance.
• Monitor stock levels, rotate products correctly and help minimise waste.
• Follow all food safety, hygiene and health and safety procedures.
• Support the wider café team wherever needed, particularly during busy periods.
• Participate in team training and help maintain our high standards across the café.

What We're Looking For

• A minimum of 2 years' professional barista experience is essential.
• Previous experience working with speciality coffee is a strong advantage.
• Confident using professional espresso machines, grinders and steam wands.
• Good understanding of espresso extraction, grinder calibration and milk texturing.
• Ability to maintain quality and consistency during busy service.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean, organised workspace.
• A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to support colleagues.
• Reliable, punctual and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to start shifts from 6:00am.
• Full flexibility throughout the week, including weekends, is essential.
