Our client is a boutique specialty coffee business based in central London, known for delivering a premium coffee experience through excellent customer service, high-quality drinks, and beautifully presented spaces.

They are looking for a confident and enthusiastic Barista to join their team and help create a warm, professional, and memorable experience for every guest.

About the Role

As a Barista, you will be at the heart of the customer experience. You will prepare and serve high-quality coffee and Just basic beverages, deliver excellent service, and maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and professionalism.

This role is ideal for someone who has a passion for specialty coffee, enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in creating a welcoming and premium experience for customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve high-quality espresso-based drinks, filter coffee, and other beverages.
  • Dial in espresso and filter recipes to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Adjust grinder settings to achieve the correct grind size for different beans and drinks.
  • Measure and weigh coffee shots accurately to maintain consistency.
  • Froth milk to the correct temperature and texture for each drink.
  • Produce latte art and present drinks to a high standard.
  • Deliver warm, professional, and engaging customer service.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and well-presented coffee station.
  • Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot espresso machines and grinders.
  • Support with food preparation, service, and general shop duties when required.
  • Assist with stock checks, stock rotation, and ordering.
  • Follow UK food safety, hygiene, and health and safety standards at all times.
  • Support the team during busy service periods and contribute to a positive working environment.
  • Uphold brand standards, values, and service expectations.

Key Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous barista experience, preferably within specialty coffee.
  • Strong coffee knowledge and a genuine passion for the craft.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced hospitality or café environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a warm, professional approach.
  • Good attention to detail and pride in presentation.
  • The ability to work well under pressure while maintaining quality and consistency.
  • A proactive, helpful, and flexible attitude.
  • Strong communication skills with both customers and colleagues.
  • A clean, polished, and professional appearance.
  • A commitment to high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with latte art and advanced coffee techniques.
  • Knowledge of seasonal drinks and specialty beverage trends.
  • Previous experience with food preparation or light kitchen duties.
  • Basic cash handling and POS system experience.
  • Ability to upsell and suggest menu items to enhance the customer experience.
  • Interest in growing within the business and developing your coffee career.
  • Leadership potential or interest in supporting and mentoring team members.
