You help guide the team, maintain standards and create the experience that brings customers back.

The Role Includes:

This is a hands-on, customer-facing supervisory role in a healthy café and takeaway counter where all food is prepared on site by qualified chefs. The role supports and leads daily service across coffees, smoothies, prepared food, retail products and the organic wine shop, helping the team deliver a relaxed, informed and consistent customer experience.

· Prepare the business before opening, including setting up the counter, checking all service areas are ready, allocating opening tasks to team members, and ensuring required checks and cleaning tasks are completed.

· Lead the team during service, making sure customers eating in or taking away are welcomed, served efficiently and looked after to Clean Counter standards.

· Support and coach colleagues with drinks, smoothies, prepared food, retail products, organic wine shop sales, till use and customer questions.

· Monitor standards throughout the shift, including cleanliness, presentation, stock levels, table clearing, queue management and the condition of customer areas.

· Make sure health, food hygiene, allergen, fire safety, licensing and business procedures are followed at all times, escalating any concerns to the Manager / Owner promptly.

· Take part in training and development programmes and help new or developing team members understand the Clean Counter way of working.

Close the business at the end of daily operation, including organising cleaning down, securing service areas, checking restocking is complete where required and preparing the counter for the following day

Personal Skills:

· Have a genuine commitment to our Mission, Vision & Values and be able to role model them for the team.

· Have a positive, calm and practical approach to customer service and team leadership.

· Be able to communicate expectations clearly, support colleagues during busy periods and keep service moving smoothly.

· Appreciate the differences of others & accommodate individual needs, ideas & perspectives.

Requirements:

· Able to communicate clearly in English verbally & in writing.

· Have previous experience in customer service, hospitality, café, retail or a similar fast-paced environment.

· Have good knowledge of healthy food, quality drinks, organic products and friendly customer service, or be willing to develop this quickly.

· Able to operate the electronic point of sale software and support others to use it correctly.

· Able to organise tasks, prioritise during busy periods and help maintain standards across the shift.

· Complete and pass the food hygiene, allergen awareness, fire safety, health and safety, licensing awareness and any product training required by the business.

· Be willing to follow all business procedures for responsible retailing, including age-related sales checks where required.

· Have previous experience as a barista and waitress and also as a lead
