Overview

Roots Cafe is a wellness-focused cafe in the heart of Primrose Hill, driven by fostering community, balance, and wellbeing. We are open daily; serving up coffee, matcha, specialty drinks, smoothies, protein shakes, and acai.

This is a full time position, at minimum 40 hours per week, including weekends.

As Cafe Manager at Roots, you’ll coordinate daily cafe operations, guide the team, oversee service and preparation, and help maintain a clean, organised environment. We are looking for an experienced and passionate cafe manager who takes pride in their work and enjoyment in providing excellent service to a warm community.

General Duties

• Lead and support the team across food preparation, serving and barista service.
• Oversee food safety practices and maintain tidy, well-run front-of-house and kitchen areas. Maintain 5 star hygiene rating through proper monitoring and recording.
• Encourage clear communication and hospitality, helping colleagues deliver attentive, consistent service.
• Manage stock levels and ordering of food, beverages, and other supplies. Minimize wastage by upholding FIFO and adapting ordering as needed.

Financial Responsibilities

• Monitor sales and expenses, create and uphold budget plans accordingly.
• Manage back of house reporting of POS systems, deliveroo, and Roots Cafe app.
• Analyze daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports, and adjust operations and ordering accordingly.
• Manage staff hours, monthly payroll, and staff holiday accruement.

Staff Management

• Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise staff.
• Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback and support for staff.
• Foster a warm, welcoming, and positive work environment for staff and customers alike.

Marketing & Promotion

• Create and schedule social media posts across Instagram and TikTok.
• Create seasonal drink & event/workshop promotional posters.
• Monitor cafe social media accounts and messages.
• Organise workshops, collaborations, and events with local community groups.

Qualifications

• Required: minimum 1 year of experience in a hospitality management position.
• Minimum of 1 year of barista experience, with strong latte art skills.
• Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate.
• Preferred: food production or kitchen experience, menu creation experience, strong IT/excel skills, experience with Canva or Adobe.

Pay: £35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year

Experience:
