Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic, friendly, outgoing and hopefully experienced Assistant Restaurant Manager to support the smooth operation of our busy and expanding establishment. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a passion for hospitality, and a solid background in customer service within a similar role. Your ability to think outside the box, contribute to ideas for business growth, menu changes, multitasking under pressure and being able to see what needs doing without constant guidance, whilst being able to work alone, and as part of a team, are essential. This role offers an exciting opportunity for the right person to contribute to a very exciting business that is still in its infancy, with a vibrant team, ensuring excellent service and high standards of food safety and quality. The Assistant Restaurant Manager will assist in supervising daily operations, managing staff, and maintaining exceptional customer experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the General Manager in overseeing daily restaurant operations, ensuring efficiency and high standards of service.
  • Supervise and support team members including servers, kitchen staff, and baristas to deliver outstanding customer service.
  • Monitor food safety standards and ensure compliance with health regulations at all times.
  • Assist in training new staff members and providing ongoing coaching to improve performance. Keeping morale high, playing a supporting role to all staff and being firm when needed will be important.
  • Managing reservations, organising seating arrangements, and handling customer enquiries or complaints professionally in the absence of the GM.
  • Oversee stock levels, order supplies as needed, and minimise waste.
  • Support the implementation of promotional activities and special events within the restaurant.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation within all areas of the restaurant including kitchen, dining area, and bar.
  • Contributing to ideas for events, event planning and event management will be part of this role.

Requirements

  • Proven experience within restaurant, bar, cafe etc roles is somewhat essential. However, a background in another management role, or even within self employment (so a proven record of being able to manage your own workload and survive in a fight or flight environment!) are equally as exciting to us!
  • Previous experience with management responsibilities such as supervising staff or overseeing daily operations would be ideal, but not essential.
  • We are seeking a mature, trustworthy individual who isn't afraid to get stuck in when it's busy, and think outside the box.
  • A previous role that has some sales experience would be handy, we need a confident individual to be on the floor selling drinks and upselling the menu.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations.
  • Excellent leadership skills (or a desire to build on them!) with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively under pressure.
  • Bar experience including cocktail and barista experience is desirable but not essential.
  • A passion for delivering exceptional customer service and creating a welcoming environment is key. Working alongside the General Manager and owners, you will strive to ensure 5 star reviews are a priority, with the aim of creating new regulars, repeat customers and making the guests first visit a memorable for the right reasons.
  • Relevant culinary or hospitality qualifications are advantageous but not mandatory.

This role provides an excellent platform for career development within the hospitality industry for motivated individuals eager to grow their managerial expertise while contributing to a thriving, privately owned restaurant.
