Full job description
We currently have a job opportunity for a part time Crisis & Resource Centre Support Worker:
- Duration: Permanent
- Working Hours: 22.5 hours per week
- Working Pattern: 3 days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday – 2pm to 10pm)
- Salary: Pro-rata salary of £16,187 per annum
- Base Location: 49-51 Russell Street, Kettering, NN16 0EN

We are looking for a dedicated and resilient Support Worker to join our team, with a primary focus on delivering support within our Crisis Café – a vital service providing a safe, welcoming space for individuals experiencing mental health crisis and distress.
This is a rewarding and varied role where you’ll support people at some of their most vulnerable times, helping them feel heard, safe, and empowered to move forward.

The role
You will play a key role in delivering person-centred, recovery-focused support within our Crisis Café, working closely with individuals experiencing emotional distress or mental health crisis.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide responsive, compassionate & non-judgemental support to individuals in mental health crisis
- Using de-escalation and active listening skills to support people in distress
- Developing personalised crisis and safety plans
- Carrying out risk assessments and safeguarding appropriately
- Signposting and referring to relevant services and support networks
- Working collaboratively with partner agencies, including NHS services
- Supporting the delivery of groups, activities, and peer support (when required)
- Maintaining accurate records and contributing to service monitoring
- Supporting and working alongside volunteers
About you
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Experience in mental health support work, or a similar role
- The ability to remain calm, professional, and compassionate under pressure
- Good communication and relationship-building skills
- A patient, respectful, and non-judgemental attitude
- A good understanding of safeguarding and risk management
- An organised approach with the ability to use IT systems for record-keeping
- The ability to work as part of a team on a rota, including evenings and Bank Holidays that fall on working days
Additional information
An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for this role.
This role is primarily based within the Crisis Café but will require flexibility to work across other Kettering Mind services when needed.
