Full job description
Institute of Metabolic Science (IMS) Epidemiology at the University of Cambridge are seeking to appoint a skilled Project Coordinator to work within the Population Health Interventions group.
This is an exciting and unique opportunity to contribute to three research projects of direct relevance to gov-ernment policy and the public's health. You will support a project that explores the potential of spatial plan-ning as a tool to support public health, another which aims to provide generalisable explanations for the suc-cess (or not) of changes in the transport system, and one an evaluation of new restrictions of food advertis-ing on TV and online. These projects build on our internationally recognized work on the structural determi-nants of diet, physical activity, and related health outcomes.
The role will include but is not limited to the following responsibilities: overall day-to-day project coordination and acting as the main point of contact for these projects; supporting staff recruitment, induction and proba-tion related activities; managing project documentation and making administrative contributions to publica-tions and funder reports; providing financial management and administration, including managing expendi-ture against budgets; organizing project and public involvement meetings and events; organizing other events such as conferences and workshops; and carrying out duties related to communications including preparation of promotional materials, funder reporting and updates to social media, project websites and institution repositories. You will need to have excellent time management, organizational and administration skills, with a track record of pro-active problem solving, working independently, and meeting deadlines.
The post is available for 39 months (part time, 0.6 FTE) in the first instance, with a start date before Spring 2027. The role is under the line management of Prof Thomas Burgoine. You will also take direction from Profs Jenna Panter and Jean Adams and work closely with other members of the three research teams and members of the wider Population Health Interventions programme. There is an expectation that the post-holder be on site for a minimum of two days a week.
IMS Epidemiology is a department within the University of Cambridge's School of Clinical Medicine, situated within the Institute of Metabolic Science on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, with its excellent public transport links to the historic city centre of Cambridge and its surrounding towns and villages. IMS Epidemi-ology's mission is to investigate the influences on health that affect whole populations, to inform the devel-opment and evaluation of population level interventions. You will be joining a world-class environment and a vibrant and friendly team of researchers who are committed to scientific excellence and real-world research impact.
Alongside a competitive salary, University staff are eligible for a comprehensive package of benefits and services include discounts on shopping, health care, financial services and public transport; defined benefits pension schemes; and tax-efficient bicycle, car lease and charity-giving schemes.
Please contact Prof Thomas Burgoine (tb464@medschl.cam.ac.uk) with informal enquiries.
Please ensure that you outline how you match the criteria for the post and why you are applying for this role on the online Application form.
Please include details of your referees, including email address and phone number, one of which must be your most recent line manager.
The closing date for applications is Sunday 30 August 2026
The interview date for the role is to be confirmed
