If you're an experienced adult clinician looking for a role that offers better work-life balance while continuing to use your clinical expertise, we'd love to hear from you.
A Different Way to Use Your Clinical Skills
This is an opportunity to step away from hands-on care and into a structured clinical assessment role where your clinical judgement, communication skills and professional experience remain at the centre of your day.
As a Work Capability Assessor (WCA), you'll carry out functional assessments to understand how an individual's physical or mental health condition affects their ability to work. Using your clinical expertise, you'll gather information, review medical evidence and produce accurate, evidence-based reports to support the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
This is an assessment-focused role.
No treatment. No prescribing. No manual handling.
What You'll Be Doing
- Complete structured assessments via telephone, video and face-to-face appointments
- Review medical evidence, clinical records and relevant history
- Assess how physical and mental health conditions affect functional capability for work
- Apply clinical reasoning to consider variability, reliability and risk
- Produce detailed, evidence-based clinical reports
- Manage your own structured caseload while working within a supportive multidisciplinary team
- Monday-Friday working pattern
- Hybrid working
- No nights, weekends or bank holidays
- Better work-life balance
- Structured diary management
- Continued use of your clinical expertise
- Supportive clinical team and ongoing mentoring
- Clear career progression
You'll receive a comprehensive, fully paid training programme to prepare you for the role.
- 6-12 weeks of paid training
- Dedicated clinical mentors
- Structured onboarding programme
- Ongoing clinical supervision
- Regular feedback and CPD opportunities
- Full-time attendance is required throughout training.
- Annual leave cannot be taken during the first six weeks.
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
- Option to purchase up to 5 additional days
- Employer pension contribution of up to 6%
- Private healthcare
- Wellbeing support
- Retail discounts across 1,000+ brands
- Hybrid working
- Structured career development pathways
- Plus many more employee benefits
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the following requirements.
