Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Night Care Assistant to provide high-quality support and care during overnight hours in a care home setting. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a caring attitude, and the ability to work independently while ensuring residents' safety, comfort, and well-being throughout the night. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals requiring overnight assistance, fostering a safe and supportive environment.

Duties

  • Monitor residents’ conditions throughout the night, responding promptly to their needs or emergencies.
  • Assist residents with personal care tasks such as toileting, mobility, and medication reminders in accordance with care plans.
  • Maintain accurate records of residents’ wellbeing, incidents, and any changes in their condition using IT systems.
  • Ensure the safety and security of the care environment by conducting regular checks and adhering to health and safety protocols.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to residents during overnight hours, fostering a calm and reassuring atmosphere.
  • Support with light domestic duties such as tidying communal areas or assisting with meal preparations if required.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, relatives, and healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care delivery.
  • Use driving skills when necessary to assist with resident outings or appointments outside the care home.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a care home or home care environment is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills in English, with an empathetic approach to resident interaction.
  • Basic IT literacy for maintaining accurate documentation and updating care plans.
  • Valid driving license preferred for transportation duties related to resident outings or appointments.
  • Knowledge of care plans and understanding of individual resident needs is essential.
  • Ability to work independently during night shifts while maintaining vigilance for safety concerns.
  • Compassionate nature combined with excellent observational skills to identify changes in residents’ conditions.
