About the Role

We are looking for compassionate, reliable, and dedicated Waking Night Support Workers to join our team in a specialist residential setting supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN).As a Waking Night Support Worker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and comfort of the children throughout the night. You will provide high-quality care, emotional reassurance, and practical support while promoting independence and maintaining a nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overnight supervision to children and young people in a safe and supportive environment.
  • Complete regular welfare checks in line with individual care plans.
  • Support children who wake during the night, offering reassurance and responding to their individual needs.
  • Provide personal care where required, including support with toileting, continence care, bathing, dressing, and maintaining dignity at all times.
  • Administer medication (following training and company procedures).
  • Maintain accurate records, complete nightly reports, and hand over effectively to the day team.
  • Undertake light domestic duties to ensure the home is clean, safe, and prepared for the following day.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns promptly.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure consistency of care and support.

  • A caring, patient, and empathetic approach.
  • Experience working with children and young people with SEN, autism, learning disabilities, or complex needs is desirable.
  • A willingness to provide personal care with dignity and respect.
  • Good communication and record-keeping skills.
  • The ability to remain calm and respond appropriately in challenging situations.
  • Flexibility to work a rolling rota, including weekends and bank holidays.
