Location: Fulbourn, Cambridgeshire

Salary: £31,847 - £34,676 per annum

Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week)

Contract: Permanent

The Role

We are looking for a dedicated Assistant Service Manager to join the leadership team at our supported living service in Fulbourn. This role is truly special, as you will be supporting a team to provide person-centred support to a gentleman who has profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), who is ALWAYS happy, who likes to have fun, who loves listening to stories and who has a great sense of humour.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • have experience in managing a challenging team,
  • have experience of multi-sensory impairment especially visual impairment,
  • have knowledge of physical disability, moving and handling, and physiotherapy,
  • have strong advocacy skills for an individual who is dependant on his carers to give him access to the world,
  • have a sense of fun, creative play and imagination,
  • have the motivation to work hard and initiate activities in the home and outside, leading the team by example, and
  • be highly organised and confident to deal with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals.

Main Responsibilities

  • To ensure the delivery of person-centred support through coaching and managing a team of staff.
  • To ensure there are safe staffing levels across the service at all times.
  • To liaise closely with other professionals, as well as having regular contact with family and friends of the person we support.
  • To act as a role model and mentor for staff.
  • To undertake on call responsibilities (i.e. 1 week every 3 months) after you've passed your probationary period.

Requirements

  • Driving Licence: A full UK manual driving licence is essential with access to your own car which you are willing to use for business use.
  • Flexibility: Various shift patterns, including alternate weekends and a requirement for sleep-ins.
  • Qualities: An adaptable, proactive and dynamic approach, whilst being driven and passionate, with strong coaching, communication skills.
  • Experience: Experience from supporting people with learning disabilities and autism is required, as well as mentoring and leading a team.
  • Qualifications: You will hold a recognised qualification in Health and Social Care.
