Full job description

Employment Specialist (Career Coach)
Location: Liverpool/Wirral (Community-Based)
Salary: £30,000 per annum
Contract: Monday - Friday, Full-Time, Permanent (37 hours per week)

About the Role
Due to expansion with our client, following the award of a new Connect to Work contract across the Liverpool/Wirral area. We are looking for a passionate and motivated Employment Specialist (Career Coach) to support individuals across this area.

As an Employment Specialist, you will help people overcome barriers to employment, education, and training, empowering them to achieve their career goals and build brighter futures. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of people who may face challenges related to disability, learning difficulties, neurodiversity, mental health, long-term health conditions, or other complex circumstances.
Using a person-centred approach and Supported Employment principles, you will provide tailored one-to-one support, helping participants prepare for, secure, and sustain meaningful employment that aligns with their aspirations.
You will also work closely with employers, referral partners, healthcare professionals, and community organisations to create opportunities and remove barriers to employment.
Please note: due to the nature of this role covering multiple areas, a full UK drivers license with access to own vehicle is required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver personalised, strengths-based employment support to individuals facing barriers to work, education, or training.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with participants to understand their goals, skills, and aspirations.
  • Complete vocational profiling and develop individual action plans to support progression into employment.
  • Use Supported Employment methodologies, including job matching, job searching, employer engagement, and in-work support.
  • Support participants to identify suitable employment opportunities and prepare for interviews and recruitment processes.
  • Develop strong relationships with local employers to create inclusive employment opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with referral partners, community groups, healthcare teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate participant records and ensure all activity meets contractual and quality standards.
  • Promote inclusion, independence, confidence, and long-term wellbeing for participants.

About You
We are looking for someone who is passionate about helping others achieve positive outcomes and who can build strong relationships with a wide range of individuals and organisations.

Essential Requirements
  • Five GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C/Level 4 or above, including English and Maths.
  • Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, long-term health conditions, or other disadvantaged groups.
  • Excellent communication, motivational, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently within a community-based role.

What We Offer
  • Fully funded SEQF Level 3 Accredited Qualification
  • 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing to 33 days with length of service
  • Company pension scheme with matched contributions of up to 4%
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Discounts and employee benefits platform
  • Ongoing training, development, and career progression opportunities

Why Join?
This is an opportunity to join a growing employability team and play a key role in changing lives. If you are passionate about supporting people into sustainable employment and want to make a real impact in your local community, we'd love to hear from you.
Apply today and help people take the next step towards a brighter future.
