Kitchen Lead / Experienced Cook – New Caribbean-Inspired Takeaway
Location: Sutton Coldfield
Pay: £14.00–£18.00 per hour, depending on experience
Job type: weekend initially, with the opportunity for increased hours
Start date: August 2026
We are looking for a reliable and experienced Kitchen Lead/Cook to help us develop a simple, efficient kitchen operation and maintain consistent food quality.
Our menu will focus on straightforward takeaway food, including chicken tenders, fries, wings, jerk chicken, loaded fries. We are not looking for fine-dining experience—we need someone practical, organised and confident working in a fast-paced takeaway kitchen.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing and cooking food consistently
- Helping standardise recipes, portions and preparation methods
- Leading the kitchen during busy services
- Managing preparation and batch cooking
- Monitoring stock levels and reducing waste
- Maintaining excellent cleanliness and food-safety standards
- Following allergen procedures
- Training and supporting other kitchen staff
- Helping ensure orders leave the kitchen quickly and correctly
What we’re looking for:
- Previous experience in a takeaway, restaurant, pub or commercial kitchen
- Confident using commercial fryers and kitchen equipment
- Able to remain calm and organised during busy periods
- Good understanding of kitchen hygiene and food safety
- Reliable, punctual and comfortable taking responsibility
- Available for evenings and weekends
- Caribbean or jerk cooking experience would be helpful but is not essential
- Food Hygiene Level 2 or above is preferred
This role would suit an experienced cook or kitchen supervisor who wants to help establish a new food business from the beginning and potentially progress into something bigger
