Full job description

The Job:

This is a mobile role primarily based in Basingstoke and the surrounding counties, however we do have sites located across the South Coast and London. The candidate will be required to work on a variety of reactive repairs, landscaping contracts and fire safety projects (training will be provided). We're looking for someone who is proactive, highly organised and able to take ownership of their workday without direct supervision, who is happy to be involved in lots of different aspects of maintenance and repairs, as well as fire safety solutions.

We are looking for an operative with a strong background/experience in:

  • General Maintenance (essential - one year)
  • Carpentry (essential - one year)
  • Fire door installations (desirable)
  • Painting and decorating (desirable)
  • Plastering/patch repairs (desirable)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out routine maintenance and repair tasks including but not limited to, redecoration works, gardening, property repairs and maintenance.
  • Identifying and rectifying any defects or issues with fire doors to ensure optimal operation.
  • Installing and maintaining fire-rated door hardware, including locks, hinges, closers, and panic devices to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Completing fire stopping installations to the highest standards (training to be provided)
  • Maintaining accurate records of door installations, repairs, and inspections.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly maintained.
  • Installing fire doors according to safety regulations, industry standards, manufacturer guidelines and BM Trada standards (training to be provided).
  • Conducting routine inspections and maintenance of fire door systems to identify any repairs or replacements needed.
  • Working independently and in a team when required

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in carpentry and maintenance.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Valid and clean UK driver's licence and willingness to travel to required sites.
  • NVQ 2 Carpentry or Passive Fire Protection (desirable)
  • BM Trada fire door maintenance, installation or fire stopping certification (preferred but not essential)
  • Must have own basic tools
  • Adhere to safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.

Pay: £25,420.00-£49,005.37 per year
