Carpenter (1st & 2nd Fix) – Loft Conversions & Residential Projects

Location: London & Essex within M25

Job Type: Full-time / Self-employed (as required)

Salary/Rate: £150-£230 depending on experience

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and reliable Carpenter to join our team, specialising in loft conversions, as well as residential refurbishments and extensions. The successful candidate will be confident in both 1st and 2nd fix carpentry and capable of delivering high-quality workmanship across a variety of projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out all aspects of 1st fix carpentry, including:
  • Structural timber work
  • Floor joists, stud walls, and roof work
  • Installing stairs and structural elements in loft conversions
  • Complete 2nd fix carpentry, including:
  • Hanging doors, skirting, architraves
  • Installing kitchens and internal finishes
  • Fitting ironmongery and finishing details
  • Build and install:
  • Bespoke built-in wardrobes and storage solutions
  • Kitchen units and worktops
  • Work on:
  • Must have prior knowledge on working on Loft conversions (primary focus)
  • Home refurbishments and extensions
  • Read and interpret drawings and plans
  • Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and within deadlines
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment

Requirements

  • Proven experience in both 1st and 2nd fix carpentry
  • Strong background in loft conversions preferred
  • Ability to complete jobs independently and as part of a team
  • Experience with kitchens and bespoke joinery (e.g. wardrobes)
  • Good understanding of construction drawings
  • Own tools and transport preferred
