Carpenter - Bespoke Garden Rooms (Brighton & Hove)
£170-200 per day, self-employed (CIS) | Tuesday to Friday (for 1 month, then Monday - Friday)

Sussex Crafted is a small Brighton company that designs and builds high-end bespoke garden rooms, offices and saunas across Brighton and Sussex. We're growing, and we're looking for a skilled carpenter who wants more than just cutting to someone else's marks.

You'll work alongside the director and colleagues on every stage of the build, from base to final fit-out. You'll also take responsibility for sections of the work, setting out from drawings, and keeping the standard high when no one's looking over your shoulder.

What you'll be doing

  • Setting out and building timber frames from drawings
  • Roof structures, including warm deck and EPDM
  • Installing windows and external doors
  • Cladding, insulation and boarding
  • 1st and 2nd fix carpentry, including skirting, architrave, doors and flooring
  • Helping with bases and groundworks when the job needs it
  • Directing a labourer on site, as needed

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years of carpentry experience, with timber frame or garden room experience a big plus
  • Able to read drawings and set out accurately without supervision
  • A genuine eye for finish, because everything we build is on show
  • Reliable, punctual and able to solve problems on site
  • Your own hand and power tools
  • Full UK driving licence (own van preferred)
  • CIS registered with public liability insurance
  • NVQ Level 2/3 or a CSCS card is a bonus, not essential
