Ambi Floors & Living is looking for experienced, reliable flooring fitters to undertake residential and commercial fitting work across Birmingham and surrounding areas.

Self-Employed Flooring Fitter / Subcontractor

This is a self-employed subcontractor position, with work allocated on a job-by-job basis. Payment is based on agreed price-work rates rather than an hourly wage.

Our standard fitting rates are:

• Straight plank flooring – £7 per m²
• Herringbone flooring – £15 per m²
• Minimum payment – £80 per job

Additional works are paid at agreed rates where applicable.

The Role

You will be responsible for completing flooring installations to a high professional standard, while providing a reliable, respectful and professional service to our customers.

Work may include:

• Laminate flooring
• LVT/SPC flooring
• Straight plank and herringbone installations
• Stairs, landings and doorways
• Installation of underlay, scotia, profiles and other finishing work
• Uplift and removal of existing flooring where included within the job
• Basic floor preparation associated with installation
• Domestic and commercial installations

What we’re looking for

Applicants should:

• Have proven professional flooring fitting experience
• Produce a high standard of finishing and attention to detail
• Have their own suitable tools and equipment
• Have their own vehicle/transport
• Be punctual, reliable and professional with customers
• Keep working areas tidy and remove/bag fitting waste as required
• Be able to identify potential installation issues before commencing work
• Communicate any problems with our team promptly
• Take responsibility for the quality of their workmanship
• Be comfortable working independently

We are particularly interested in fitters who take pride in their work. Poor finishing, rushed installations and repeated callbacks are not acceptable.

Pay

This is self-employed price work.

Payment is based on agreed fitting rates depending on the flooring type and job requirements, primarily calculated per m².

Minimum payment per allocated job: £80.

Larger installations will naturally attract higher fitting payments based on the size and type of work involved.
