Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Floor Layer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in flooring installation, demonstrating proficiency with both hand and power tools. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to read and interpret schematics, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship. As a Floor Layer, you will be responsible for installing various types of flooring materials in residential and commercial settings.

Responsibilities

  • Measure and cut flooring materials to fit designated areas accurately.
  • Install various types of flooring including carpet, vinyl and hardwood.
  • Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, or applying adhesives as necessary.
  • Use hand tools and power tools effectively to ensure precise installations.
  • Read and interpret schematics to understand project specifications.
  • Collaborate with other tradespeople such as carpenters and painters when required.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment throughout the installation process.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to ensure satisfaction with the completed work.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Floor Layer or similar role in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools relevant to flooring installation.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics and technical drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Physical stamina and strength to perform manual tasks for extended periods.
  • A valid driver's licence is preferred for transportation to job sites.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in construction environments is essential.
