Responsibilities

• Measure and assess spaces to determine the appropriate amount of carpet or flooring required for each project.
• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, leveling, and making necessary repairs to ensure optimal installation conditions.
• Install carpets, underlay, and related flooring materials accurately according to specifications and schematics.
• Use hand tools and power tools effectively to cut, fit, and secure flooring materials with precision.
• Follow safety protocols during all phases of installation to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with health regulations.
• Collaborate with clients to understand their needs, provide advice on suitable materials, and ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded.
• Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and disposing of waste responsibly after each project.

Skills

• Proven experience in construction or flooring installation with a focus on carpet fitting.
• Proficiency in using hand tools such as cutters, trowels, and measuring tapes, as well as power tools like drills and saws.
• Knowledge of carpentry techniques for preparing subfloors and fitting trims or edging where necessary.
• Ability to interpret schematics, plans, or technical drawings related to flooring layouts.
• Familiarity with construction painting may be advantageous for surface preparation tasks.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills for adapting to different environments.
• Effective communication skills for liaising with clients and understanding project requirements.
