EXPERIENCED WOOD FLOOR FITTER

I Group Services – Aylesbury / London & Home Counties

We are looking for a highly experienced Wood Floor Fitter and Business Unit Manager to join our growing team. This is not just a fitting role, it is a pivotal role in our company to establish and grow our installation side of the works.

This position is not a trainee role. Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years’ proven experience fitting high-quality solid and engineered wood flooring and be confident completing installations independently from start to finish. Applicants must also have experience quoting and liaising with customers, understanding customer requirements, Problem solving and selling a new installation service.

The role

You will be responsible for the complete sales and installation process, including:

· Meeting customer on site and understanding their requirements

· Showing samples and coming up with a fitting plan suitable for them

· Relaying the order details and timeframes required to your line manager.

  • Assessing and preparing subfloors
  • Moisture testing and identifying potential subfloor issues
  • Levelling and correcting uneven subfloors
  • Plywood preparation and other remedial works where required
  • Accurate measuring, planning and setting out
  • Installing solid and engineered wood flooring
  • Straight/plank flooring
  • Herringbone flooring
  • Parquet flooring
  • Chevron and other patterned installations
  • Glue-down, secret nail and floating installation methods
  • Accurate cutting and finishing around doorways, fireplaces, thresholds and other details
  • Expansion gaps and finishing details
  • Fitting thresholds, trims and finishing pieces
  • Problem solving on site and ensuring installations are completed to a very high standard

We are particularly interested in someone who understands that preparation and setting out are just as important as the fitting itself.

You must have

Minimum 5 years’ professional wood floor fitting experience

A strong background in solid and engineered wood flooring

Excellent experience with parquet and herringbone installation

Strong knowledge of subfloor preparation

Ability to set out complex floors accurately and symmetrically

Excellent attention to detail

Ability to work independently and take responsibility for your installations

Professional attitude when working in customers’ homes

Full UK driving licence
