Job Title: Vocational Tutor - Childcare

We are expanding our Pathways offer for 16-19 learners and are looking for a full time tutors for Childcare.
It is an exciting time to join Southend City Community College (formally Southend Adult Community College)
We are a growing college with an exciting future supporting the city of Southend, Rochford and Castle Point.

As a tutor here you can expect small class sizes, an effective learning support programme and a staff mentoring and wellbeing scheme.
This post will form part of our Study Programme team, contributing to the coordination and delivery of a range of full-time vocational courses within our 16–19 Pathways provision. With small, tailored class sizes, this is a valuable opportunity to support the development of our vocational curriculum and provide hands-on, industry-relevant learning for young people.
This post will require a strong working and vocational knowledge of Childcare. The successful candidate will be student-focused, bring subject experience, and be able to work collaboratively as part of a team. Flexibility, enthusiasm, and a commitment to supporting learners to achieve their potential are essential.
To design and deliver programmes for young people, including those with additional needs.
Design schemes of learning that meet the curriculum intent and offer learners work related learning, build skills in independent living in a vocational learning environment.
Provide explicit instruction and provide the use of technology throughout the programme with scaffolding and 1-1 interventions where necessary.
Contribute to the needs assessment for each learner before they engage with the programme.
This successful candidate(s) will be employed on a contractual basis on a 1.0 FTE contract with the expectation of classroom teaching at both our Southchurch and Leigh on Sea campuses as required.
Our 36 -week courses are delivered regularly throughout the year, and tutors are contracted on a course-by-course basis based on demand.
There will be a requirement to attend team meetings, open evenings and take part in enrolment activities.

Key Responsibilities:
To ensure accurate and regular assessment of learners providing progressive feedback to learners on their work as measured against the criteria.
Create and maintain accurate records to ensure that learners, managers, parents and carers are clear as to learner’s progress at any given time.
Ensure learners are engaged and enthused about the subject by providing high quality and active teaching strategies that are learner focused and can help develop hand skills and good communication.
Working with learning support staff to ensure any additional needs are met and teaching methods are adapted to suit the needs of the learners.
Contributing to the development and continual improvement of courses, coordinating effectively with both staff and students.
Taking a proactive approach in marketing with the objective of developing and enhancing programmes of study, ensuring targeted levels of recruitment, establishing strong partnership links and raising the profile of the college Pathways programme.
Remain abreast of the quality assurance expectations of the courses, and contributing to course reporting, student engagement and other activities as directed by the Head of Quality.
Secure high standards for teaching and learning across the provision – ‘Good and Exemplary’
Work with the VP Curriculum & Quality to ensure any learners at risk are identified early and interventions put in place to ensure achievement.
Develop an effective coherent curriculum offer for each level that has effective transition throughout
Ensure that retention of students and progression within Construction is good
Map the provision and the IAG to support students throughout
Develop the ethos within the department where the student learning is supported by its environment
Monitor student progress, ensuring appropriate interventions are in place.
Analyse assessment data to inform teaching strategies and improve results.
Foster a positive learning environment that encourages student engagement and achievement.
Attend/participate in meetings and other events as required.
Comply with college cycle of observations of teaching, learning and assessment.
Play an active part in your own professional development and undertake continual professional development.
Ensure adherence to established teaching policies, procedures, and quality standards.
To work in accordance with SCC equality and diversity and safeguarding policies.
In addition to the above areas of responsibility the post-holder maybe required to undertake any other reasonable duties relating to the broad scope of the position, commensurate with the post, and in support of the college.
This role will require an enhanced DBS
