Weekly Auction Administrator & Operations Assistant

Ross's Auctioneers & Valuers

Ross’s is a well-established firm of Auctioneers and Valuers located in the heart of Belfast. With a long-standing reputation for excellence and integrity, we offer a wide range of auction and valuation services to both private and corporate clients.

We are seeking a motivated and organised individual to join our team in a hands-on role supporting the running of our weekly auctions.

This is a varied position that combines administration, customer service, auction cataloguing, and porter duties. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our weekly sales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cataloguing items for weekly auctions, including researching, describing, and photographing lots where required.
  • Managing auction administration and maintaining accurate records.
  • Responding to customer enquiries by telephone, email, and in person.
  • Assisting buyers and sellers throughout the auction process.
  • Organising and coordinating collections and deliveries.
  • Preparing auction rooms and lots for sale.
  • Handling and moving furniture and other auction items safely.
  • General operational and administrative support as required.

Requirements

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable with manual handling and lifting furniture.
  • Basic computer literacy and confidence using email and office software.
  • A positive, flexible, and proactive approach to work.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in auctions, antiques, valuations, logistics, retail, or customer service.
  • Interest in antiques, collectibles, art, or auctioneering.

Working Hours & Location

Please note this position is fully on-site in Belfast city centre, Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 5.15pm.
