Full job description

Location: Cheltenham General Hospital

Pay Rate: £13.11 per hour plus 12.07% holiday pay (£1.58 per hour), giving a total hourly rate of £14.69 per hour. Weekend and public holiday enhancements apply where eligible.

Contract Type: Bank (as and when required)

Additional Requirement: Weekend, evening and bank holiday working may be required, depending on the shifts being covered.

Join Our Catering Team

We are looking for friendly, dependable and hardworking individuals to join our Catering Team on a bank basis at Cheltenham General Hospital.

This is a great opportunity if you’re looking for flexible work and enjoy providing excellent customer service in a busy environment. We are looking for people who can support both our patient meal service and our popular on-site coffee shop, helping to provide an excellent experience for patients, visitors and colleagues.

As a bank employee, you’ll provide cover for planned annual leave and short-notice sickness absence. Planned shifts are usually notified at least four weeks in advance, while some sickness cover may be offered at shorter notice.

Please note: This is a bank position with no guaranteed hours. Shifts will be offered according to service needs and your availability.

Typical Shift Patterns

We have bank shifts available in the following areas:

Patient Meal Service

  • 4:45pm to 7:45pm
  • Service operates seven days per week
  • Applicants should be available to work weekends when required.

Coffee Shop (Barista Service)

  • 8:00am to 4:00pm
  • Monday to Friday

Shifts will be offered according to service needs and your availability.

What you’ll be doing

  • Preparing and serving food and beverages
  • Supporting the delivery of patient meal services
  • Providing friendly and professional customer service
  • Operating tills and handling payments where required
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
  • Following food hygiene, HACCP and health and safety procedures
  • Working flexibly across catering areas to support the wider team

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for people who are:

Previous experience in catering, hospitality, retail or customer service would be beneficial, although full training will be provided.

You should also have:

  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills
  • An understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations
  • The ability to follow instructions and work to agreed procedures
  • Previous barista experience would be advantageous
