We have a vacancy for an experienced and enthusiastic Cook/Chef on our Care Home team for up to 40 hours per week, with extra holiday cover also available.

Ideal candidate would have previous experience of catering in a similar Healthcare setting, or a School or Nursery kitchen as part of a team.

The shift times are 7.30am - 2pm and then 3pm - 6.30pm

You should be able work as part of a Catering team within a Care Home environment.

The post involves:

- meal planning, preparing and cooking of Breakfasts, Lunches, Teas and snacks, following a four-weekly menu of home-cooked meals, ability to produce daily home-baking and produce.

- knowledge, understanding and provision of dietary requirements (Allergens / Diabetic / Reducing / gluten-free / Fortified / Modified etc).

- basic ordering, food storage, stock rotation and kitchen audits.

- maintaining required records on cleaning schedules, temperature records, understanding of hazard analysis and food hygiene in a commercial environment.

- ensuring the kitchen remains clean, works to best practices, legislation and regulations.

- supervising, monitoring and supporting others within the kitchen team.

The role enjoys a certain amount of flexibility and freedom and will allow the correct candidate to demonstrate creativity. You will be able to have an input in menu planning, and not be restricted by tight budgets.

We encourage and promote ongoing training and staff development and there is an ongoing requirement for you to undertake and maintain mandatory training (which is paid). You should have basic food hygiene to level 2. Other training can be requested.

An overtime rate is paid for additional hours worked over your contract and on bank holidays, and uniform is supplied.
