Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Deli Counter Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, preparing deli products, and maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness. This role offers an opportunity to develop culinary skills and gain valuable experience in a fast-paced retail environment. The successful applicant will be organised, proactive, and passionate about delivering a positive shopping experience for our customers. Hours and rate of pay will be discussed at interview, Applicants over 18 preferred.

Duties

• Assist customers at the deli counter by taking orders
• Ensure all food items are prepared in accordance with food safety standards and hygiene regulations
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the deli area, including sanitising surfaces and equipment regularly
• Restock shelves with fresh products as needed to ensure availability throughout the day
• Manage cash register operations accurately, including handling payments and giving correct change
• Monitor stock levels and communicate with management regarding supply needs
• Provide friendly, professional service to enhance customer satisfaction

Experience

• Previous experience in food preparation or working within a restaurant or catering environment is desirable but not essential; training will be provided
• Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures is advantageous
• Experience in serving customers and upselling products is beneficial
• Basic maths skills are required for handling transactions accurately
• Kitchen or culinary experience can be an asset but is not mandatory
• A proactive attitude with excellent organisational abilities is important for maintaining a clean and well-stocked counter
