Full job description

Based in Ilfracombe, as a Cook, you will be responsible for the day-to-day preparation of homely high-quality food in an efficient, hygienic and creative manner supported by a Head Chef and Kitchen Assistant.

30 hours per week, 10-hour shifts with every other weekend off and no split shifts.

Just some of the day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare and cook a variety of fresh nutritious meals and other refreshments, ensuring a nutritional and balanced diet
  • Ensure the food is presented to a high creative standard
  • Ensuring high levels of hygiene, health and safety and cleanliness throughout the kitchen and food store areas
  • To make sure that all food at point of serving is of the highest quality
  • To constantly check the quality of the food being served to family members
  • To control stock rotation to ensure the kitchen and food stores are always well stocked
  • Prepare a range of delicious soft meals, putting the joy back into food, designed for those with swallowing difficulties

Experience:

  • Food and Hygiene Level 2
  • Preferred minimum 2 years’ experience working in a commercial kitchen
  • HACCP training desirable
  • Able to work confidently and proactively as part of a team
  • Previous care home experience an advantage but not essential
