Sous Chef – The Rising Sun, Lynmouth

Location: The Rising Sun, Lynmouth, Devon, UK
Hours: Full-Time (including some weekends & evenings)

Role Overview

We’re searching for a passionate Sous Chef to assist our Head Chef in maintaining high culinary standards and delivering memorable dishes. You’ll play a key role in daily operations, supporting the team and helping shape menus that reflect local produce and coastal inspiration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and preparing creative seasonal menus
  • Supervise the kitchen brigade during service
  • Ensure impeccable dish presentation and consistency
  • Maintain high standards of food safety and kitchen hygiene
  • Oversee stock levels, ordering supplies, and monitoring wastage
  • Mentor and develop junior kitchen staff

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef (or ambitious CDP or Junior Sous)
  • Strong culinary skillset and passion for fresh, locally sourced ingredients
  • Leadership qualities with a hands-on, team-focused approach
  • Excellent organisational and time-management abilities
  • Knowledge of UK food safety standards (HACCP)
  • Relevant catering or culinary qualifications desirable
