We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to join our welcoming team at Little Gardners Outdoor Nursery in Marchwood.

Our hot lunches are delivered to the nursery, so the role focuses on preparing and serving food, maintaining our kitchen and ensuring that food safety and hygiene standards are consistently met.

What Will You Be Doing?

As our Kitchen Assistant, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of our nursery kitchen, including:

• Receiving, checking and safely managing our delivered hot lunches.
• Preparing and serving nutritious snacks, meals and refreshments for the children.
• Managing food portions and ensuring meals are served safely and efficiently.
• Following individual dietary requirements, food allergies and allergen procedures.
• Maintaining excellent standards of kitchen cleanliness and organisation.
• Completing daily cleaning tasks and regular deep cleaning.
• Monitoring and recording food temperatures, fridge temperatures and other food safety checks.
• Maintaining accurate food hygiene records and documentation.
• Ensuring food is stored, labelled and rotated correctly.
• Managing kitchen supplies, stock levels and ordering requirements.
• Following food hygiene regulations, safer food handling procedures and nursery policies.
• Working closely with our nursery practitioners to ensure mealtimes run smoothly.

Previous experience working in a nursery, school kitchen, catering environment or similar role would be an advantage, but is not essential.

A Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate would be desirable, although training can be provided for the right candidate.
