Snape Maltings Trading Ltd is the wholly owned subsidiary of Britten Pears Arts (BPA), a pioneering music, arts and heritage charity based on the Suffolk coast at two popular, historic visitor destinations: The Red House and Snape Maltings. 100% of the profits from our restaurants and cafes go towards the charitable work of Britten Pears Arts.

Our year-round catering venues include River View Restaurant, Malt Café and River View Café and Bar at Snape Maltings which is also a licensed wedding venue and hosts a variety of events throughout the year.

Our Kitchen team has a well-respected leader and friendly colleagues who are experienced and passionate about what they do. The working environment is busy, but organised and would suit someone looking for work- life balance whilst also being able to play a part in delivering a good quality and interesting menu.

We are looking for a Chef to join our Kitchen Team at Snape Maltings.

Working at Snape Maltings comes with many benefits, including no split-shifts and, wherever possible an 8am or 9am start and a 5pm or 6pm finish. During peak periods and for events/functions there will be evening shifts and longer days, but these are planned in advance. Chef Requirements

  • Has a minimum of 1 years Sous Chef experience or equivalent.
  • Up-to-date knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety and Food Standards Legislation.
  • A quick thinker, with the ability to problem solve and multitask without compromising quality of service.
  • Keeps calm under pressure, always demonstrates tact and diplomacy towards others.
  • Demonstrates a personal commitment to EDI.

Chef Responsibilities:

  • Uphold food, portion control, and allergen control standards.
  • Ensure that all procedures are correctly carried out.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior staff members.
  • Input into menu design and dish creation.
  • Order and maintain correct stock levels.
  • Support in conducting and ensuring accurate and timely reporting of stocktakes.
  • Deliver reports accurately and on time.
  • Maintain up-to-date records.
  • Control supplies and equipment and re-order when necessary.
  • Have an understanding and hands on approach to Marketman, Procurement and Costing software. (Ongoing training will be provided)
  • Support Catering Operations Manager in Training and guidance of Front of House Team where required.
